Barry + Sally // No Children
barry - only acting
warning: harsh noise at the end
Send me a character and I’ll give you some of my thoughts on them!
i think this episode has like really solidified my fear for pretty much the entire cast. i have a lot of thoughts but they're not really coherent so i'm just going to bulletpoint them. under the read more because this got long
i was thinking a lot about the second season during the interactions between barry and sally with the callbacks to her relationship with sam but i think thinking back to 2x08 specifically really solidifies my fear for sally. i remember reading that BH said that after she slapped him, there was a genuine possibility that he would have killed her if she hadn't flipped the script last second. i'm just really worried that with everything going on this season she's going to try and confront him after another moment of high tension (maybe fuches returning, something going wrong with cousineau, who knows) and it's going to lead to a genuine violent confrontation. foreshadowing with his hallucinations last episode maybe
this is a brief note but his costuming reminds me a lot of 2x08 as well
i think it's also likely that katie attempts to talk to sally about barry which as i see it could go two ways: it does actually lead to sally confronting barry (resulting in the above) or it leads to sally defending him (also a possibility) which leads to tension on the set/sally having a breakdown
my OTHER big fear is that another on-set confrontation takes place and katie jumps in to defend sally leading into barry having a complete crisis or turning violent / yelling at her which like.... ahh!! i just worry about her i mean everything was concerning including the adults just leaving her alone in the room after witnessing that. like she's a kid i know it's probably an accurate representation of what hollywood is like (also with nobody actually doing anything about barry's treatment of sally) but it's still just distressing to see
everything about this episode was just so gut-wrenching in general if i'm being honest. sally making the dinner and apologising and looking for the apology and barry not saying i love you and the way he was just so dismissive of her is just... so painful to watch sally i'm getting you out of there
and man the stuff with gene... genuinely terrifying to watch. i don't have much to say about this in particular i was just kind of watching in horror but it's just actually terrifying. i do think gene is living on borrowed time for sure, i don't know if barry would actually go through with killing his son and grandson but it does genuinely feel like a possibility at this point, since he really does have a pattern of justifying everything to himself as necessary
i miss the acting class :(
hank and cristobal are breaking my heart i really hope it doesn't turn into a bury your gays thing but i have faith... the scene when cristobal was with his uncle was so heartbreaking and in general i'm just already so sad over what's happening to their relationship :( the shot when cristobal was driving away and hank was watching really hurt
love is definitely a major theme this season and i really hope we get some more backstory surrounding barry's relationship with his father, BUT i don't necessarily know if i want it in the form of a flashback? if it was a flashback i do trust bh&co to pull it off in a way that fits with the show (i mean we have had the flash forwards already so it's definitely workable). i think it'd be interesting if it was incorporated by way of hallucinations since those have already appeared in the season, barry replacing cousineau with his father in his head or something like that - i am very much not a writer so i'm sure it'll be executed in a way that's probably better than anything i'd think of but i do hope there's some more exploration of that, although at the same time i don't know if it's wholly necessarY? maybe it's sufficient to explore it through barry's actions this season. honestly i'm just really interested to see where this season goes aaaaaaaaa
i rlly would like to see something surrounding his bracelet from the first season as well and what it means ... who is jack gootsan ok i think those are my initial thoughts/ramblings. there will be more later. this show makes me insane <3
gonna make this into an edit after the end of season 3 probably (or maybe earlier) but thinking about only acting by kero kero bonito in relation to barry
