Welcome to the inaugural post of the HLVRAI Big Bang! This is an event open to the whole fandom!

What is a Big Bang, you ask? It's an event that pairs together artists and writers to collaborate on fanworks! Check out our FAQs for more info.

FAQs

Q: What is a Big Bang?

A: A Big Bang is a fandom event where writers pair up with artists to create fanworks together! Typically this involves a writer creating something with a minimum word count, and an artist creating 1 or more illustrations of their fic.

Q: How do I participate?

A: Step one is joining our Discord server! Introduce yourself, then post in our signups channel and you'll be added to our big ol' spreadsheet.

Q: Who's moderating this?

A: This Big Bang is being run by tigerdrop and KogoDogo.

Q: Is NSFW content allowed?

A: NSFW content is not allowed as part of this event. No judgment here - this is simply to make things easier to moderate, and to allow all ages to participate.

Q: What is the minimum word count?

A: For the HLVRAI Big Bang, the minimum word count is 5,000 words.

Q: What kind of drawings are accepted?

A: Any medium is acceptable! As long as it is a complete fanwork, it can be traditional or digital. Sketches are acceptable for check-ins but not for the finished work.

Q: What if I do a form of art that isn't writing or drawing? (i.e. music, animation, etc.)

A: That's totally fine! Reach out to a mod and we'll figure out who to pair you up with.

Q: When are check-ins due? A: The schedule of events is as follows:

July 31st: Sign-ups close

August 14th: Summaries due from writers

September 14th: First check-in due

October 14th: Second check-in due

November 14th: Final works due

Q: What is expected at each check-in?

A: Generally we expect to see considerable progress at each check-in. For the first check-in, we'd like to see about 2k words from writers, and a sketch from artists. For the second check-in, we'd like to see things at least halfway finished. These aren't hard and fast rules - we know life happens. Just communicate to us what you've got going on!

Q: I don't want to participate anymore. Can I drop out?

A: You can drop out at any time. Just be sure to communicate this to a mod so that somebody can fill in for you. If you do not respond to a check-in request, we will assume you've dropped out, and your partner will be reassigned to somebody else.

Q: I want to fill in for others/beta read. Can I do that?

A: Of course! We always need pinch-hitters and enthusiastic supporters.

Q: Can I sign up for more than one role?

A: If you want to contribute more than one fanwork, we strongly encourage you to become a pinch-hitter. This means that if somebody else drops out, you may be called upon to step in and complete a work for them. You could be a real lifesaver!

Q: When will the finished works be posted?

A: We don't have a concrete timeline yet, but they should be posted starting from November 14th through the rest of December. This will depend on how many people sign up and complete their works. We'll keep you posted!
