LEIGH ANN FOSHEE 33/100

Miss Leigh Ann Foshee, the most talented knitter I know. Thanks to Leigh Ann I learned how to knit…I still only do one stitch…the “knit stitch”, but I can make really long scarfs because of it. Through learning how to knit I also learned that I’m a kinesthetic learner, a style of learning where doing something with my hands while listening helps me retain information. This was especially helpful in college during liberal arts classes. I probably owe a portion of my decent GPA to Leigh Ann. So cheers to my knitting Sensei; a great teacher, ballerina :) and hair sculptor.

CHUCK MANLEY 32/100

The first time Chuck and I ever hung out we instantly began insulting each other. Needless to say we’ve been friends now for about 4 years. Chuck is normally traveling all over the world. He’s fearless and I really admire that about him. I’ve had some Detroit adventures with him and even got to hoop with him using the Seattle skyline as our background.  Currently Chuck is traveling in India. You can read about his travels here. Until the universe brings our paths together again my friend.

CHRISTIAN DOBLE 31/100

Turning 25 seems like it should have a pretty extravagant birthday celebration to go along with it. Christian was a part of making that birthday super freaking awesome. He is in this neat band Fawn. If you haven’t heard them, you should because they are my favorite. They also make cool music videos and one time I got to be in one -  “No Wave”. Can you spot me?

SEAN SOMMER 30/100

Sean is really good at playing the drums. He’s also really good at reciting his vowels while doing so. He’s in this fun band Destroy this Place. You should listen to them here. Sean is a nice guy, super helpful and has a dark sense of humor that I just love.

CHAD COLE 29/100

Chad was my roommate for a year and I am so lucky he was. I laughed a bunch with him, cried a ton, ate our usual at Coney Island and BEAT super Mario world with him. There were a lot of quintessential moments that I shared with him. I even made some progress with Yumi, his illusive frightened black cat, who has the softest fur in the world if she’ll let you touch her. Chad is a warm, loving human being and I am happy to call him a friend.

ALISON DAMMANN 28/100

I met the beautiful Alison when we lived in Australia. We traveled to a lot of different places together, but my favorite with her was Thailand. I ate all of the coconuts and she gobbled most of the banana chips. We frolicked on beaches, went on intense hikes, slept in tree forts and rode on my FAVORITE vehicles Thailand has to offer- TUK TUK. I went with her to have my very first Thai massage. It didn’t go so well for me, but Alison was a seasoned pro. Thai massage reminds me more of a battle than a relaxing day at the spa…

ALISON YOUNG 27/100

Alison is a part of one of my favorite Detroit bands- The Kickstand Band. You should listen to them here. Their music makes me think of lots of happy memories and I even got to be in one of their music videos, “Still Thinking of You Tonight”. Alison is real nice, great musician and an incredible seamstress. I’m glad we’re pals.

BRIAN MEKJIAN 26/100

Dearest Brian- TODAY is your day for posting. Yes, the time has finally come. Brian is my bro and our song is Niggas in Paris, you should listen to it right now because you probably haven’t heard it in too long! Sometimes we have conversations that only consist of these lyrics. My favorite is “fish fillet”.

MAX DALEY 25/100

Max used to drive me to high school for the better part of junior year. Sometimes he would show up and I would still be in pajamas and then I’d just go to school like that. I can recall only two bands ever playing in Max’s black truck- Radiohead and Sigur Ros. It was a perfectly appropriate soundtrack to listen to when dragging your butt to French class that you never did homework for.

ALEX HAUGLUND 24/100

I don’t know a whole lot about Alex, BUT the notable points are he’s a nice guy, has a great collection of wilderness animal t-shirts AND a retired hand model. I once outlined his hand with a marker and he so graciously provided his autograph for me. I plan on selling it on ebay someday.

JIMMY OHIO 23/100

Jimmy Ohio- the heartthrob of America. Jimmy’s favorite past time is to sign up for The Color Run, Color Me Rad, Electric Color Run, The Color Jog, Throw Color and Run, Mega 80s Color Run, among many other various 5Ks where the objective is to acquire as much colored powder on you as possible. He is an inspiration to us all and I’m glad I got to work with him for a short time.

JACK DOUGLAS 22/100

I met Jack a long while ago on a stoop in Woodbridge. I believe I was laying down on a swinging bench so he was upside down. Down the road I had the great pleasure of working with him and found out not only is he a nice dude, but a really talented creative too.

SARAH DUDEK 21/100

There was a time when my workday would promptly start at 9:00am and was not complete without morning chats with Sarah. She would make me chuckle and give me good work/life advice. I think Sarah is real neat and admire how (for lack of a better phase) she dances to the beat of her own drum. She single handedly brought flower hairpieces in style and can tolerate me eating microwaved fish by her desk for a week straight. That’s why she’s a super strong lady and why I like her a whole lot.

JONATHAN SHAW 20/100

Within the first week of living in Australia, on Bondi Beach no less…I decided to try and reach out to Hard Rock Café in hopes of maybe picking up some shifts to support some traveling habits. This is basically how the first conversation I ever had with Jon went, “Hey I’m Heather and I’ll be in Australia for a little while. I worked at the Hard Rock in Detroit, can I work here with you guys and pick up some shifts?” Jon: “Yeah, right on, come in and we’ll get you sorted.” He was the greatest boss ever and one of my most favorite memories was that time we partied with Guns N’ Roses and had breakfast with Frank the next morning. That was back when Axel had cornrows.

ALEX MCMILLAN 19/100

There was a period of time where my favorite thing to do was get high with Alex and watch Disney Movies. Sometimes we would go to Pancake House. I never liked omelets and I never liked pancakes but Pancake House changed all that. We would basically order the menu and eat all of it and sicken our waitress. We’d also bike around and he would let me hold his bike while I long boarded so I wouldn’t have to do any work and I would sing, “I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor.” I thought it was pretty catchy.

DINA PILNITS 18/100

Dina is one of my most important go-tos at work. She’s quietly hilarious, I can ask her about matzo ball soup and she gives the best advice. She’s a bit of an old soul I think and though she’s younger than me I look up to her. She’s a most excellent writer; you can see that for yourself here. She’s kind and that’s why she’s a little Russian doll.

JOSIAH LACOLLA 17/100

Josiah is super Italian, so obviously I like him a whole bunch. He drives a black mobster car that could probably fit a few bodies in the trunk. He’s super funny and can do this great sort of Rat Pack impression that just kills me. I’m just going to emphasize that Joe is real cool.
