i noticed this thing with a lot of men. they tend to be really generous and kind only to women they’re attracted to. duh, obvious statement to most of you but it’s jarring when you see it first hand and it’s so prevalent and insidious to the point that it feels uncomfortable accepting help from a strange without thinking of the possibility of him having ulterior motives. and it’s disheartening knowing that if you’re in a position needing a man’s help, a lot of times it will depend entirely on whether or not he’s attracted to you. and the problem is that they think this goes both ways. i can show a simple gesture of kindness and a man will take it as me coming on to him. me letting you go in front of me on the checkout line because you have one item, me offering change because you don’t have any, or anything other well-intentioned act of kindness results in a man trying to eventually make a move thinking that it’s mutual. how sad it must be to think that there’s no kindness for the sake of kindness. that all good done in this world is based on sexual impulses instead of the desire to help another human being just how you like to be helped.

Samurai Jack: The Phantom Samurai

I think the figure on the horse is not only a representation of what Jack fears he will become, but I also think it stems from his father’s killing of those assassins. The figure’s gear appears to not only be that of a samurai, but one of high class status. If that’s how Jack saw his father after that event (based on the decision to kill), it would make sense he feared having to make that decision himself and almost see it as a ghost that’s haunting him- waiting for Jack to make that inevitable decision that will define who he is.

Room For Ruby Review/Theory

Okay so let me start off by saying I really did enjoy the episode. Navy’s facial expressions and Peridot’s adorable attitude towards her was great to watch. HOWEVER, I got some shit to talk about. The only REAL issue I have with this episode is the blatant ignoring of gems’ character development. I thought we were past this level of naivety. Enough shit has happened for ALL of them gems to not be this damn trusting; especially if the person they’re trusting has literally fought them. I’m not mad at it, but it just doesn’t seem plausible in relation to everything that’s happened up until this point. Where the hell was PEARL? Pearl wouldn’t have allowed this at all. Amy was nowhere to be found. Garnet basically said “well that’s odd” and rolled out (I’ll get to that in a minute). Steven and the only two gems that DON’T really know what’s going on were left alone with a gem that they had no reason to trust. I didn’t love the way Lapis was acting towards Navy (she was being so damn Extra™ like seriously she was developing kinda well before this) but I do understand her confusion. It didn’t make sense for Steven to be so down for assimilating a gem that should hate them. It was WAY too easy for Navy to betray them. The only conclusion I could come to is that Garnet is bullshittin’. She can see multiple futures. There’s no reason for her not to be able to tell that Navy is going to be an issue if she actually presents a threat. She literally comes up with balloons representing the futures she saw and KNEW this was the ‘bad’ one. Any one of the gems could’ve single-handedly stopped that ship (LAPIS👀👀👀👀) but they DIDN’T. Garnet KNEW this was a possibility but didn’t do a thing, and yet when the possibility of Blue Diamond catching all the CGs presented itself, she lost her shit. I’m guessing that Navy won’t end up being a serious problem OR that Garnet knows this is necessary for some sort of end goal, thus is allowing it to take course without interference. All-in-all, I enjoyed the episode but I question what’s going on here. Either the crewniverse is just being a lil messy with these plot devices or they already have this planned out and we just have yet to see exactly where it’s going.

Bloodstone and Connie?

It's been floating around for the longest that it's possible for Beach City humans (Connie specifically) to have some sort of gem DNA, resulting in their appearance and other oddities. It's also commonly believed that Connie might end up with special abilities either through DNA, fusion or Steven's DNA (spit). And recently with the airing of Rocknaldo, more and more people are subscribing to the idea when Naldo explains his enthusiasm as 'feeling like one crushed up gem running through his veins like a bloodstone'. Consider this: Naldo's comment was to be taken literally. You know how people way back in the day would crush things up and use it as medicine, makeup, pigment, etc? People had a lot of crazy shit in their bloodstreams that shouldn't have been there because they believed those items had beneficial properties even though they were usually wrong. Precious stones were a HUGE part of that. One I can remember right off the bat being ground up and used for medicine was lapis lazuli. Maybe THAT'S how beach city has gem/blood connection. It makes more sense than several gems doing what Rose did. I still think it's more likely that any biological alteration in Connie would be caused by fusing with and swapping spit with Steven, rather than it being a bloodline though because that keeps it unique to her and potentially anyone else Steven gets super close to.
