How Video Games Affect Digital Wellness in Kids: Narrated by Darren Criss and Mia Swier

Dopamine is a chemical in your brain, that it uses to send feel-good messages between nerve cells. When we accomplish something, learn something, or discover something new, we get rewarded with dopamine.

Having the right amount of dopamine is important for the body and brain – too much dopamine makes us more competitive and more aggressive. Playing certain kinds of video games — like ones where you collect items as an ongoing reward, or in a metaverse with no clear levels or stopping points – give constant rushes of dopamine as a reward for accomplishment, discovery and newness. But, when your brain gets constant rewards, it starts to need more and more dopamine to feel good – and then playing the game becomes the ONLY thing that offers enough dopamine for us to feel any good at all. Our brain will stop wanting to do anything else.

i was in a thrift shop the other day and they were playing the most unsettling variations of normal christmas music, culminating in this rendition of the 12 days of christmas except it was like 12 guys all singing over each other and going “no!” and interrupting the lyrics with random other phrases until they deadass just started singing 5 golden rings to toto’s africa. can anyone confirm that this is a real song and not that i stroked so hard i astral projected into a universe where everything is somehow worse than it is here
