My Favorite Photographs — Light Through the Cedars
Sunlight entered through the tall trees of a forest in Japan, creating rays and subtle colors across the scene.
What I like about this photograph is the contrast between the scale of the trees and the temporary nature of the light.
The cedars rise quietly around the landscape, while the sunlight passes through them for only a brief moment.
The rays and lens flare appeared naturally as I photographed toward the light.
For me, this photograph captures something central to SacredLightJapan.
The forest itself remains, but the light is always changing.
A few moments earlier or later, the scene would have looked completely different.
This remains one of my favorite photographs because it combines scale, stillness, and a fleeting moment of natural light.
Real place. Natural light. Fleeting moment. Photographed in Japan.

A timeless Scottish landmark. The Castle of Mey, once restored by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, stands proudly above the Pentland Firth, where centuries of history meet some of Scotland's most spectacular coastal views. 🏴
Bolkow Castle, Poland 🇵🇱
Bolków Castle is one of the most impressive medieval fortresses in southwestern Poland. Built on a rocky hill overlooking the town of Bolków, it was strategically positioned to defend important trade routes through the region.
The castle was founded in the 13th century by the Bolesław II the Bald and later expanded by Bolko I the Strict, from whom the town takes its name. It became a powerful defensive stronghold guarding the borders of the Silesian duchies.
Over the centuries, Bolków Castle withstood numerous conflicts and was strengthened with impressive Gothic fortifications, including its distinctive wedge-shaped tower designed to resist attacks.
Today, the castle is one of Poland’s best-preserved medieval landmarks. Visitors come to explore its historic ruins, climb the towers for panoramic views, and attend cultural events such as the annual Castle Party festival.
