How to avoid getting pulled over if you are smoking weed in a vehicle:
Make sure your taillights are working
Remove any dangling objects that could ‘obstruct your view’ like GPS dashes on the window, air fresheners or anything else that is attached to the windshield or your rearveiw mirror
Avoid speeding or swerving
Always use that turn signal
Keep cannabis in your trunk to show that you have not been consuming while driving!
What to do if you are pulled over:
Activate turn signal as soon as you see flashing lights
If you feel you would be safer in a parking lot or somewhere with more people, activate your hazards
Put hands on steering wheel
Grabs your license and registration once the officer asks and see’s that you are not a threat
If you only have a small amount of cannabis or paraphernalia like a grinder or a piece, and the officer looks and acts friendly, consider giving the officer your stash and being completely honest. Most of the time, no charges will be filed and the officer will dispose of the stash.
If you have a large amount of cannabis or have other illegal drugs on you, follow this script created by The Pot Brothers At Law:
Officer: Do you know why i pulled you over?
Avoid saying yes or no, instead: “Why did you pull me over?”
Officer: What is that smell?
Avoid giving away any unnecessary information “I am not discussing my day”
Officer: I know that smell/Where are the drugs/Have you been smoking marijuana
Neither deny or agree “Am I being detained or am I free to go?”
Officer: You are being detained. Get out of the car
Cooperate and show you are not a threat while declaring “I invoke my fifth amendment rights.”
Remain calm, Do not speak and cooperate physically: Putting hands behind the back or getting on the ground
When the officer asks any more questions, repeat: “I am not discussing my day”

The privilege against compelled self-incrimination is defined as “The constitutional right of a person to refuse to answer questions or otherwise give testimony against himself”
Following this script only means not incriminating yourself and allows your defense attorney a greater chance of getting the charges dropped or reduced.
