@hollanovdownn
Expanding on my Ben and âESOEMOEHOEDâ lyric post because I genuinely have nothing better to do. (pt 2 in the âLet the Hargreeves siblings be flawed peopleâ rants).
It always drives me crazy when people complain about Ben (and the others) âbeing mean to Klausâ or ânot understanding his addictionâ because theyâre forgetting the fact that heâs been dealing with that shit for twenty one (possibly twenty two) years.
Notice how I didnât say seventeen years. Because the thing is Klaus didnât start taking drugs after Ben died. As early as s1, heâs shown to have been rolling joints under the dinner table when Five was still around - which means he was thirteen at the oldest when he started.
Itâs also shown in the s4 Ben flashback scene that his siblings are the ones that had to deal with getting him ready for missions whenever he got all doped up or drunk or whatever unsober state he decided to be in that day (in that instance it was Allison but if you consider âYoung Bloodâ canon in any way the implication is that it was usually Ben). And thatâs a lot for a kid to deal with - both being the person taking drugs and being the person having to deal with someone who isnât sober!
Either way, theyâd all been doing it for a long time. And the thing is dealing with addicts is hard. The show goes out of its way to explain this! Ben just has to sit there and watch as someone he loves destroys their life over and over again. Itâs so fucking difficult. Does that mean he should dismiss Klausâ pain? No! Does it mean he should lash out the way he does? No! Obviously not!
But it does mean when he says âYouâre always going through something!â or âHow many rock bottoms do you have to hit?â itâs not coming from a place of cruelty - but exhausted experience. Heâs done this a million times at this point. When he asks âCan you handle this?â he means âAm I going to have to help you pick up the pieces again and watch you destroy yourself when that fails?â
Benâs being a dick. Benâs one of the only people who hasnât completely given up on Klaus. All the other siblings have (rightfully) drifted away from one another at the beginning of the series but Ben stayed. And we can go in circles all day for the reasonings on why he did that - fear, selfishness, love - but there was never a point where he didnât think Klaus could do better. If Klaus wanted to get sober, Benâd be passive aggressive and snarky and condescending - but heâd support him full heartedly. Because Klaus is better than that - and Dave knew it too. The people closest to him know that.
Now this isnât a hate post on Klaus - heâs literally one of my favorite characters of all time - and addiction is hard. Reginaldâs abuse was horrific and cruel and endlessly traumatizing. Klaus is shown to be empathetic and creative and kind and brilliant and loving! And thatâs what makes it so tragic. Thatâs the part that makes Ben (and the others) so frustrated when Klaus screws up, thatâs why they all want Klaus to get sober. Because they love him! And heâs better than that.
And they know heâs fully capable of doing it - Klaus just refuses to see that most of the time because acknowledging that would be the hardest thing heâs ever done. Itâd mean giving up his one lifeline - the one thing he knows he can rely on - and admitting that it is an actual problem he has and not just a âfuck youâ to Reginald. He was only ever hurting himself and his siblings - and at his core Klaus is a good person so he doesnât want that.
Ben knew all that though. He didnât handle that information correctly but he knew it. And thatâs the most impossible and torturous thing in the world - knowing and being forced to watch Klaus piss it all away. The potential Ben sees in Klaus isnât the same that Reginald saw - itâs far more important. He was an asshole but there was never once a point in the show where he didnât love his brother.
Ben was stuck dealing with an addiction that wasnât his. He was angry and tired and he loved his brother.
Those are all facts that can coexist.
The more often I rewatch Season 1, the more it becomes obvious how Klaus is the Mascot of the family, the family member who diffuses tension with humor. But he also fits the criteria for the avoidant personality type.
Here's my analysis on this:
1.Sensitive to Rejection
People with an avoidant personality try to steer clear of rejection or criticism, because it leaves them emotionally vulnerable. We can see this very well with Klaus. To name a few examples: When Allison points out the rehab wrist band in the first episode of the show, he says âOh, no, Iâm done with all that.â He tries to deny it. We can see this exact same behavior later when he tries to talk himself out of conjuring Reginald. Allison is the one to interrupt, asking if heâs high. When everyone just looks annoyed at that, he springs up, defending himself âHow are you not?â.
He knows his addiction is disapproved of by the family, that it will earn him a lecture. In the show we can see this when he tells Luther âSave the lectureâ when he leaves Reginaldâs office. And when he tries to conjure Reginald, he also says âbig angry ghost lecture.â When he smokes in the living room, Luther says âYou know dad didn't allow smoking in here.â All of this showcases how he is used to criticism and also his ways in avoiding it.
Season 4 Klaus with eyeliner because I needed to feel something after that shit show of a season
so let me get this straight. klaus:
loses his immortality and is consequently terrified of everything but heâs sober and has a great relationship with his neice
makes it very clear that under no circumstances does he want the marigold because his powers make his life infinitely worse and he prefers to live and die the way he is without them
almost gets force fed marigold anyway (and itâs super wrong that the others do) but heâs okay and reiterates he doesnât want it
gets force âfedâ it anyway
leaves his family who donât seem to care that he feels like his life is over
is murdered and then kidnapped and forced to perform seances which frequently, apparently, end in full possession where people can use his body any way they please
escapes but gets caught and literally buried alive
had allison and claire not found him he would have repeatedly suffocated to death
and NONE of it had ANY plot relevance. and presumably we were supposed to find it funny???
THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY.
Such a waste, donât even bother to watch season 4. Itâs all full of shit and overall a great disappointment. Genuinely such a downfall. What the actual fuck were the writers thinking??? I mean this, so seriously, donât waste your time watching season 4. Itâs so horrible, and, this isnât just a me opinion, this is everybodyâs opinion and if itâs not then⊠good luck to youâŠ
Not only did this ruin everything, but it ruined my TUA DR.

The Christmas Trip
A party with a difference
Robert Sheehan x Reader: A smut relay challenge
A/N: This experimental fic was written in collaboration with @rina-cydonia @icarusklaus @cher-writes and @jaydamaey. The writers were challenged to write 500 words, having only seen the section immediately before theirs. The authors were only allowed to ask each other basic questions about the setting. Weâre not going to tell you who wrote which bit as guessing is part of the fun. This one gets pretty wild, folks - strap in. CW: Rough sex, choking, drug-taking
Itâs Christmas break. A soft layer of snow covering everything in their path crushes under Robertâs car as they pull up to his house.Â
(Y/N) looks out of the passenger window in confusion and squints to see the shadows dancing around inside, strobe lights flickering light to dark and music thumping the ground outside.Â
âWhatâs going on, Robert?â she asks with suspicion as he exits his side and runs over to hers.Â
Being the gentleman he is, he opens her door and lets her out as the soft snow lands in his curly brown hair, quickly disappearing in seconds.Â
âShh⊠just trust me,â he says in that thick Irish accent of his. His piercing green eyes make her submissive in a heartbeat. Robert puts his arm around her and leads the way to the door.
As they get closer, she can tell that this is a get-together. She looks around and sees Klaus levitating above the table in the living room with a joint in his hand, a few other partygoers she doesnât recognise, then Nathan being a pig in the kitchen, eating everything in sight. Even Vincent is there, a red cup in his hand, talking to a girl by the bathroom door and, for once, he isnât ticking.Â
Robert removes his coat and she follows. No one seems to notice they have entered the room at all, which is weird.Â
A strong yet soft hand pulls her towards the stairs and, as she looks up, she sees Robert motioning with his head to follow his lead.Â
With the music blasting and the smell of weed in the air, they go up to the bedroom and sit on the bed. Robert pulls a little bag out from the back pocket of his pants, showing her not one but two little white pills.
âDo you trust me, darling?â he asks, with one of the pills in his hand.Â
She had seen this pill and used it with him before: ecstasy. She opens her mouth and, as he slips the pill on her tongue, she closes her lips around his finger slightly, sucking on it.Â
He then gives the bag to her, letting her give him his pill. As she feeds it to him, she can feel the warmth of his mouth wrapped around her finger and the moisture of his tongue flicking around it as she pulls it out.Â
Just then, there is a knock on the door.Â
âReady for the surprise?â Robert asks, putting his head in her neck and lightly kissing it with his soft, warm lips.

another the umbrella academy theory:
reginald and aliens who escaped from their planet, formed commission to stop another apocalypse in the planet earth.
okay so we all remember in s1e10, reginald says goodbye to his lover and his planet while sending many little light balls to sky. which i believe these light balls are our heroesâ powers.
reginald and other people who escaped from their planet, came to our world and wanted to prevent inevitable. so they dont wanna lose this world they came to because planet earth is filled with incredible sources.
but as time went by, they all saw humans as lower race and started to become more and more cruel. so they decided not to prevent apocalypse and let it happen, but in a way that theyâd still have the sources of planet earth.
reginald disagrees and is kicked out of/leaves commission. so he decides to find the powers he sent to world and adopts 7 of them and trains them to prevent the apocalypse.
commission is aware of reginaldâs acts but doesnât stop him because reginald adopts vanya and commission is aware of what vanya is capable of. they think thisâll even fasten the process. reginald also realises what vanya is capable of so other than teaching her how to control her power, he is afraid of her and he suppressed her power.
commission still doesnât see academy as a thread. they even decided to use five.
also people we were introduced as head of commission and Handler are probably children of the founders.
yeahh thatâs pretty much it and pls let me know your thoughts đ„°
Iâd love to address something about Klaus in s2. I was one of those people who kept complaining how we didnt see Klaus enough or how they werenât portrayed well. As I rewatch the season and reading comics, I think I was wrong?
Steve Blackman and Gerard Way have a soft spot for Klaus, right? Gerard Way created a spin-off for Klaus. They both think theyâre the best character. Then why the hell in s2, we were robbed? I think we werenât.
See, Steve Blackman and Gerard Way are hella smart guys. They build each and every character really well. With patience.
When we first meet Klaus, theyâre someone whoâs selfish, alone, drug addict and doesnât really care much about anything. Then, they fell in love. We got to see a new side of Klaus. They grew up so much. Decides to stay sober. Used their powers amazingly and started to discover so much about themselves. In s2, Klausâ arc was around Dave and Ben. A.K.A. the people who changed their lives. Klausâ biggest competition in their lives was Benâs and Daveâs death. I also think Ben and Klausâ relationship were great this season?? Klaus did what something they hated so Ben could talk to someone he loves. And I also think Klaus handled Benâs death the way he shouldâve cause remember that Klaus never shows his sadness and agony to his siblings (except dave scene).
Klaus now lost both of them for good and is going to suffer so much. As Benâs not with them anymore, they wonât have many sources to block their powers. Because usually, Klaus only sees death at the age they die and same clothes. But, Ben grew up and we donât see any war wounds, do we? Ben even time travelled with Klaus. These were Klausâ powers.
I think the main reason for creaters to show Klaus less was to prepare him for future and more developed Klaus. Theyâre definitely someone who canât stand up without falling too hard. Ben kept telling them, theyâd be dead if he wasnât there. Weâll see their true agony in s3, and them surviving from their ashes, honoring Ben.
How was Hargreevesâ friendships when they were kids:
A long ass post of my ideas(probably dumb) inspired by both comic books and tv show)
starting with:
-Luther and Allison:
They were best of friends who had feelings for each other.(?)Let me dig this deeper. Luther was #1, which meant he was the unofficial leader of the Academy. His power is being super strong which is also a reason why he was the leader. Allison, is the only female with powers (SIKE) and her power was to rumor anyone, anything she wants which means she could easily get what she wanted, which probably also created an ego as a child. As being #1 and doing what you want, they could understand and relate to each other. In s1, allison says she got whatever she wanted with everything.. Do I think they have feelings for each other?? No. I think as children who grow up so close and alike, they thought they did. I think they have a special place for each other but not as âthe oneâ and allison knows that.
-Luther and Diego:
As #1 and #2, they ALWAYS had a rival. Trying to impress daddy constantly. I think they sometimes had soft moments and both thought like âmb heâs not that badâ but ended up getting annoyed and saying âughh i hate himâ Reginald was why they never really liked each other to begin with.
-Luther and Klaus:
Klaus ANNOYED Luther. Iâm sure of that. Luther was the one whoâs always serious and reasonable and Klaus probably created a lot of drama. I can see Klaus making fun of Luther and Allisonâs relationship. I think when Klaus did something funny, Luther always looked annoyed but he also found those funny.. Luther as a kid, loved having Klaus around but also annoyed with him. I think Luther always wanted to have fun as Klaus did. Klaus loved talking to Luther, he found Luther interesting. I think they had some really really soft moments. đ„ș
-Luther and Five:
According to comic books, theyâre twins. Five always thought he was better than all of them which annoyed Luther so much. Five constantly developed his power and more he developed, more he annoyed Luther. Five was also better at learning stuff like languages which also annoyed Luther. Bcz he wanted to be his dadâs fave and Five was a huge opponent. Even tho Luther saw Five as a thread, he took Five leaving hard.
-Luther and Ben:
Ok so this is a bit complicated because in comic books, they dig deeper on their relationship but not in TV show. In comic books, Luther blames himself for Benâs death and in his moon station, he names his helper âBenâ . Ben is known as a gullible child, easily effected so Luther probably did a bad leading which lead to his death? Scary to think about. I think Ben was THAT one sibling, who everyone loved and got along. Thatâs why his death caused the end of the Academy. Luther loved Ben but I think he always pushed Ben? In missions, Ben was a HUGE impact, but Ben hated using his powers.
-Luther and Vanya:
Luther probably didnât even think Vanya was a part of the family? I think he was mean towards her but as time went by, he regretted it and became closer with her. I think when Ben died, Vanya was the one who consolted Luther. Even tho she was suffering so much.
-Diego and Allison:
*eye rolls* , *grumble grumble* they DID not like each otherâs company. Diego always crossed the line with everything and Allison always tried to stop him. They definitely had friction. Never got on well. After they went their seperate ways, Diego probably never seen any of Allisonâs movies. Lol
-Diego and Klaus:
My fave. Diego PLAYED with Klaus. He tricked him to do dumb shit all the time. If he was bored, he went to Klaus. When he was upset, went to Klaus. They definitely messed with Luther A LOT. Klaus was his safety blanket. Klaus annoyed him a lot, but a second later, annoyed feelings were gone. He acted like BIG brother toward Klaus. Klaus also loved being around Diego.
-Diego and Five:
Their relationship was just like Luther and Fiveâs were. Rivalry. Hard. After fiveâs departure, Diego was very upset and started to question his dad. After Ben, Diego fell apart.
-Diego and Vanya:
Funfact: Diego has a thing for Vanya in comic books. Which Iâm glad that itâs not portrayed like that in the TV Show. Diego was a total asshole to Vanya. No more no less. Vanya always felt for Diego tho. I think when Diego was suffering from difficulty of speaking, Vanya tried to be helpful but Diego always acted tough, he hated looking needy. He thought Vanya pitied him which annoyed him. Vanya tried to reach him but was blocked.
-Allison and Klaus:
Another fave. Loved each other so much. Always hugs, funny jokes. Allison being a BIG sister to Klaus. Klaus wanting to wear Allisonâs clothes. She had a soft spot for Klaus. She knew how hard his powers were. Sometimes she wished she could help him but Klaus never let anyone know about his struggles. He always turned his traumas into fun.
-Allison and Five:
Another tough relationship. They both were strong characters. Allison was annoyed by Five bcz he thought so highly of himself. Five was annoyed bcz he could see right through her. Five knew what Allison was capable of and called her out all the time. It was tough to hear these for Allison but it did wonders for her character development. She also questioned her dad after Fiveâs departure.
-Allison and Ben:
Great buddies for sure. When Allison was upset, Ben was there. They loved each other. Allison felt for Ben. Ben hated his powers and Allison could see it and told Luther to stop pushing him. She was devastated after the incident.
-Allison and Vanya:
Barely talked but when they did, it was special. Allison mostly hung out with Luther in private. Sometimes she needed a female friend and went to Vanya. But after her problems were solved, she forgot about Vanya. Vanya always felt like they were gonna be closer but never became. When Five left, Allison thought it effected Vanya the most. Then Ben died and Vanya was even more traumatized. Allison could see this but didnt know what to do. She cared about Vanya more and more everyday.
-Klaus and Five:
They werenât close at all. He definitely thought Klaus was an idiot. But I think Five discovered Klausâ drinking at young age and knew his struggles but wasnât around enough to help. In Hotel Oblivion, we see Fiveâs intervention with Klaus. I think even tho heâs %90 of the time an asshole to Klaus, he felt for Klaus. Klaus loved pissing him off tho.
-Ben and Klaus:
Partners in crime. Always tricked Ben to do something. Ben always tried to stop Klaus doing something dumb but ended up being a partner. Ben always wanted to watch out for Klaus. They both struggled with their powers. They sometimes talked about it. Ben knew about Klausâ mausoleum incident. Ben hated Reggie. Hated how harsh he was on them. They loved each other so much, Klaus couldnt let him go.
-Klaus and Vanya:
Klaus loved Vanya and Vanya loved Klaus. Klaus was always there to cheer Vanya up. When Vanya felt left out, Klaus made a joke. It was always like that. Vanya never understood how Klaus handled his horrible power. Vanya was so worried about Klaus. They never talked deep, but could hear each other without talking.
-Five and Vanya:
BEST OF FRIENDS. Five always felt Vanya was so mature and smart. Talked about everything. Five always complained about his siblings and dad and told everything to Vanya and Vanya listened to him patiently. His departure hit her so so bad.
-Ben and Five:
Loved each otherâs company. Worked so well together. Loved each other. Had midnight talks.
-Vanya and Ben:
Vanya listened to Five, Ben listened to Vanya. Ben was the ONLY person who cared so much about Vanya. He was her guardian, her safety blanket. When Vanya was upset, Ben grabbed Klaus to cheer Vanya up. After making Vanya laugh, Klaus went away and Ben and Vanya talked about everything.
So yeah, thatâs all. I hope yâall enjoyed this. It took me a long time to write this down. Please share your thoughts and feelings. Thank youu đ„°đ„°
My TUA s3 assumptions/theories
(Spolier Alert đš)
These are only my assumptions and some thoughts after reading Hotel Oblivion
-People we know are dead in s1, might not be dead?? Since our heroes changed the timeline, Apocalypse didnât happen. Which means Cha Cha is probably alive and maybe Hazel has never even met Agnes. Dave signed before he shouldâve so there might be a possibility that Dave survived the Vietnam War. Pogo was murdered by Vanya in s1, so heâs also probably alive.
-If Reginald didnât adopt our heroes, weâll learn their families?
-Klaus will hit the rock bottom. After losing Ben for good and thinking he couldnât save Dave, I think weâll see these effects hugely. In Hotel Oblivion, we see Klaus overdosing and Fiveâs intervention. I think Klausâ fall will be saved by his siblings. Weâll definitely see some sibling moments right there.
-Harlan will come back, as a villian. The Umbrella Academy comic series includes many villians we havenât seen in the show. Harlan was left with special abilities at the end of s2. I think weâll see him and heâll recognize Vanya. I think Vanyaâs story will evolve around Harlan and Sissy (who is probably very old)
-Diegoâs story will evolve around Lila. I think theyâll try to find each other. I can definitely see something happening in future seasons and weâll definitely see Lila. But I think real challange for Diego will be none other than dear deceased Eudora Patch. Sheâs again, probably survived.
-Reginald will ask Five to join The Sparrow Academy?? This might sound stupid but I think Five was the only one who truly left an impact (power wise) on Reggie. Which will show us a lot in s3 i think.
-Ben will be a villian.
-I donât have many opinions on whatâs gonna happen with Allison.
-If Dave is alive, Klaus will meet Dave. In my opinion, weâll see a very very sad KlausxDave moment. I think Dave will be very old but had a great life with his husband. Heâs married and heâll recognize Klaus. They wonât end up together but theyâll have a closure.
-Klaus will reach his powers. Iâm not sure if all but I can see him doing telekinesis and levitating. And I think heâs clairvoyant??
-Weâll see more about who they are, where they came from?? Past memories?? Other children?? And most importantly, who is Sir Reginald Hargreeves? Him being an alien and his past life.
I think next season will be about both Hotel Oblivion and Sparrow Academy combined since Gerard Way and Steve Blackman donât directly show comic book. Theyâll take some pieces and write something new. At the end of the day, theyâre both geniuses and next season will be full with surprises and twists and I canât wait for it.
Please share your opinions. đ„°
Iâd also like to add Klausâ cult. I think weâll definitely see effects of that too.
