When I was a sophomore in high school my mom and her boyfriend got into a fight over God knows what. It was bad. My mom has the tendency to break things when she gets mad, so she was throwing stuff and screaming. Her boyfriend then responded "If you want to start breaking shit, I'll break shit too!" He then picked up a kitchen chair and smashed it on the ground and it broke into two pieces. Me being the art loving dramatic filled high school student I decided to turn it into a sculpture. My whole idea was using trauma and turning it into art. I submitted my piece in the schools art show and got third place for sculptures, 2 origami pieces won before me. Honestly still a little bitter. Now I'm an junior art student in college and I can still say I'm proud of that work. Moral of the story high school students don't understand art, & use the bad things and turn them into good, don't let them drag you down, let them INSPIRE.
