...
Heâd forget that God was watching him.
The blunder would recur in a respite pattern, pliant eyes shifting back and forth from you to the subjects of the revered ceremony. Heâd spent all that time mulling on who to throw the blame on; you, the motherfucking dress code or the sun well within its intention to embrace you so amorously; embracing you in a way that Jungkook was strictly prohibited to, as far as most wedding ceremonies go.
It was an entire fucking hour of his brain in wearing vim. Scenes upon scenes of how heâd so wanted the candied revelry to play out for himself. For you. And he is so secure within the thought of such.
It was a good thing you hadnât missed the impish little glances thrown in your direction, too. Roe-deer-like irises, amiable grins and the sugary mouthing of âI love youâs; nothing short of a searing-red rose amongst a formidable vine of dingy thorns.
The skyâs ever-shining orb was in his favor this time - now that the two of you were alone - generous in its part to venerate your deep brown, oh so kissable shoulders, the glitter on your face as well as the decorative assemblage of blossoms in your winsome cloud of coils.
It was the sunflowers heâd taken interest in, how simply consonant they were with your dress gleaming in its audacious yellow and dancing along with the sweetly gentle breeze. Heâd always thought the color yellow went well with your skin. There was just something about the sunny hue that roared with praise to the melanated abundance. An unfathomable enigma, but yet a very eye-catching phenomenon. And the sunflowers in your hair? They stayed in spite of every movement, forever in your gorgeous debt. And he adores it. He adores you.
âOkay, what is it now?â Amused, you chime in.
âJust enjoying the view.â The response was delivered painlessly. A bashful smile at the benign simplicity had threatened to make its way across his pretty face.
Heâd excluded a minute detail from that treacly answer: he wasnât just enjoying the view. He'd pictured tenderly calculated steps towards his idle form, whilst numerous eyes tread your heavenly feat with arrant focus. Your eyes would be on each other, gleaming a frustratingly unexplainable ardor worth a role in churchly folklore. And youâd have a bouquet in your hands, of course.
He could hear it now, the fanciful utterance of âI now pronounce you husband and wife,â and his heart did somersaults. The following giggle hadnât done anything to help the situation either.
âYouâve got something to say, Guk. Talk to me.â You prod gently.
âWell, what should I say?â
âExactly what it is youâre thinking about saying.â Consonantly, youâd answered his question, the fantastical timeliness sending a bright red rush to his cheeks. His hands itched and quivered about on his sides, a shrill urgency to cover the comically rubescent mess. But heâd kept his hands at their place, anyway. Heâs so stubborn, but in no way is that an aidable oddity.
Words, sentences, exalted phrases and aforesaid love confessions; they all hung fire in a line, dancing atop his tongue in a lusty delirium. And all the while he is somehow brought back to your little car-hosted parley, prior to your arrival, about how absolutely rude you have to be to propose at somebody elseâs wedding.
Why the fuck did it have to be somebody elseâs wedding? Thatâs what heâd then asked himself after searing cries of excitement from the recurring reception pierced sharply through the peacefulness of the garden. It had to be somebody else's wedding, somebody elseâs romantic merrymaking, that steered him to such an embarrassingly amorous rapture. Somebodyâs else's wedding was the reason you looked so pretty today. Somebody elseâs wedding was the moment heâd fallen in love with you more than he thought he would.
And perhaps that is what he should say to you, if only the abiding chance of a âyouâre crazyâ slipping from your lips had ceased to exist. But fuck it, he thought. Every fervid flicker of the heart, every seemingly ceaseless musing, had escaped his mouth in the form of a simple tack of praise he at least felt was due.
âYou look so beautiful.â
âIs that all?â You challenged, smiling brightly.
âWell.. I-â
âSo do you.â
And you were still grinning.
Just when heâd sought the (thought to be) simple task of a love confession, youâd made this more difficult than it was meant to be.
Thatâs you, his sunflower bride-to-be; charmingly difficult. Heâd first uttered the term to one heâd dubbed as his confidante, the lasting beat of that conversation so agonizingly vexatious heâd cursed upon his pliant brain for thinking that one too many shots of vodka was a good idea. Every word of recall entailed a splitting image of what you'd presented on your umpteenth date: a blown out cloud of hair with flowers in it. It was one of two things heâd failed to mention on that amiable night. The other thing was that cruel constraint of gut-wrenching fear that stopped him from proposing to you on the spot. He wouldâve at least put back the flower that had cheekily escaped your hair.
His friend, one of no mercy, wouldâve laughed. Heâd remained exceedingly aware of that.
But heâs alone with you now, favorably cheated of a derisive body. And time was of the essence. The momentâs vivacity was yet to die out in aid to the brideâs need for her maid of honor. Her maid of honor being you. Fuck, he needed to speak.
âWhat now, lover? Since when did compliments render you speechless? Thought you were the charming gem.â
âLooks like my said-to-be-common role had been stolen, then,â he expertly replies, poise rekindled.
The both of you treat the disjoining space to its shortage, chests nanometers away from each other. Jungkookâs hand had a mind of its own, slyly tracing its way across the small of your back in deliverance of a recondite intimation.
âReally?â Up goes your eyebrow, along with your hand in sheer keenness to fondle with his dark locks.
âMh-hm.â He hums in response.
âHm. But I know youâre still thinking about something. Tell me what youâre thinking about.â You egg on.
It was his queue to perform the required task. It begins with a breathy âfine,â before a zestful touch of his lips on yours follows along.
A light press on the small of your back and your lips alternate with his recurring eagerness⊠that is before he starts pausing in between kisses to finally abate your intuition.
âMâjust thinking aboutâŠâ he pauses to kiss you again, ââŠhow beautiful you look todayâŠâ He kisses you slowly this time before continuing, ââŠand how I just couldnât take my eyes off of you during that ceremony.â
âI happened to take notice,â you murmur, ever so impishly. Heâs undeterred, all semblance of heed stuck strongly onto the feeling of your warm breath against his face.
âI saw something the other day, something inside me said it would have you all tingly.â He began, adoring your oh so inquisitive cock of the head.
âWhat is it?â
âAn 18-karat DY Unit Cable.â His words escape in a balmy cadence. He continues smoothly, as if quelling waves of confusion weren't made so exceedingly evident, your eyebrows intensely furrowed and all. âIt was so pretty. The diamond was so gripping, Iâd spent so much thought on the mere modesty of itâŠâ
âOkay, and why are you tel-â
He cuts you off, shakily this time, âIâd also thought about how pretty it would look⊠on your left hand.â
It hit you with a staggering brunt, the apt realization. And heâd noticed it, unsure of how to take your priceless facial cast. Starstruck was the only possible way to describe it.
He hadnât even a clue if he was terrified, because right after youâd delivered a stifled âJungkookâŠâ, more words soberly escaped his lips like heâd prepared for this many days prior.
âItâs a good thing I donât have it on me. Otherwise it wouldâve been quite the show.â
âYouâre unbelievable.â
âAm I?â
âYou are!â You interject, an uncontrollably bright smile present.
âThen you should know something else.â
The pair of arms that snake ever so lovingly around his neck incites him so benevolently. Heâs convinced that you're ready for his impeded confession, by your justly curious gaze. He takes a deep breath, in hopes to deliver his fantastical piece the best way possible - despite the urge to kiss you again approaching his bodily throne at a minacious velocity; he ought to save that for when itâs considered expedient.
So, here it goesâŠ
âThroughout that tedious ceremony, Iâd imagined it was you in a wedding dress, with a bouquet in your hands, standing under that altar and all. I couldnât possibly identify why. Something at the back of my mind told me that it was simply the way youâd carried yourself. Not to say that I havenât felt this way for a while⊠because I have.â He stands taller, if that was even possible, at absolute pains to trounce the heat of his burning cheeks. âBut I- fuck. Today, something⊠happened. Not to be all super syrupy or anything⊠but it was like some sort of button was pushed. Like⊠right at that very moment. And I just couldnât stop thinking about it. About you. About what we could be. About what I would really, really want us to be.â he sighs, â what Iâm trying to say isâŠâ
âIsâŠ?â You cheerfully goad.
He shakes his head, irked breaths heaving out like heâd had some attack mounted in desperation for his dear life. Always so dramatic. But he'd accept that judgment, anyway.
âItâs not even a question. You have to marry me.â
And that was it right there. His bit was complete.
It was now your turn, to set free the desired tidings of your expression. A sentence; the simple corollary of what is the vibration of the vocal cords paired with the sweet actions of your lips, tongue and teeth; an awaited tool that has the man breaking into cold fucking sweats for whatever reason. It was too bad. His soothing conscience was on mute, and it was from you whom heâd learned the colossal insignificance of those recurring jitters.
âI- I mean⊠has that ever been a question?â You ask, seemingly stirred.
He freezes, thrilled, an effortless mein of âwait⊠is this really happening?â âI- so⊠Iâm assuming thatâs a yes?â
âIâll let you figure that out,â were your last words before his lips were back on yours, gleeful chuckles vibrating against each otherâs pillowy zest. Heâd made it a point to slow down in warmth to timeâs relatedness.
Time doesnât move when heâs with you.
Your hands, catching at the nape of his neck with an unrelenting greed, seemed to agree too, from which his moans and heavy sighs joined in with the breezeâs sweet song of service. Heâd swear he could stay, be it all day, all week, all year⊠forever? Your touch is what he deems a seminal mark of healing worth wars. And many times more, heâll state the newfound creed.
âJungkook,â You murmur against his zealous lips.
:âMhm?â
âThe wedding.â
âThe wedding?â He questions, before helplessly freeing a proud smirk, âAre we planning that now already?â
âIâd wish so too, baby,â you reply, voice dripping with honey in spite of the playfully derisive tone. âUnfortunately, Iâm talking about the wedding weâre at now.â
Heâd question how at this point his face hadnât reduced to some eerie liquid substance. A darker shade of red was the best it could do.
He, quite dramatically, throws his head back with a sonorous groan. But that thick subcurrent of irritation dies down in an unearthly flash when he makes eye contact with you again, hand expertly making its way to your cheek for his thumb to graze the miniscule patterns of your skin.
âI love you,â He finally murmurs, âAnd I donât need you to say it back.â
âBut I will anyway, you know that.â
He chuckles at that, aware of you in every respect.
âI love you too.â You murmur sweetly.
More screams of excitement lash out in a clamorous, reproofing manner. But as a show of thoughtful mercy, youâd decided that a few minutes wouldn't really harm anyone if theyâd put in the effort not to take it to heart.
âAs magical as this moment truly is, my devilishly materialistic side is thrilled to see what kind of show you wouldâve put on.â
A tongue in cheek was all youâd intended the silky utterance to be. Truly. And he knew that. Even so, keen eyes found their way to the ground, all regard to the aforementioned diamond ring being put to rest.
His fount of influence lay barren among the vividly green streaks, yellow petals still attached to its treasured brown bundle of seedlings. He slowly bends down, as if trying not to scare it away, picking it up with a godly precision by its petal.
Heâd remained aware of your feverish gaze. It lingered all the way through, and he himself was at his very best to maintain it the moment he stood to his feet again.
There it was, that frustratingly unexplainable ardour, dragging on and on as his hand delicately delivers the strayed sunflower its refuge within your curly tendrils.
Youâd gotten the picture, he was certain. But a sweet purr was owed to sustain the tranquil sentiment.
âIt wouldâve been something like this.â He whispers.

your heart thunders in surprise when you swing the door open to find jungkookâs tall figure standing only a few inches away from you. when your gaze falls on the bouquet of flowers heâs holding, you breath out a sigh to release the tension that zapped your body.
âyah! canât you atleast knock?!â you exclaim with wide eyes.
his mouth hangs open in confusion, before looking behind him where you can immediately see his cozy living room. âiâm inside my house. why would i knock on my own door?â
âbro, i-i donât know-â you stutter. âyou scared me! why are you just standing there?â
a look of horror and offense flashes on your boyfriendâs face. âdid you just call me âbroâ?â
you wince at the realization. âit slipped! iâm sorry!â you push inside him the house, shutting the door behind you. you throw in your car key beside his on the little bowl and leave your opened umbrella by the doormat so it can dry off.
youâve been in his apartment a bunch times â knowing the passcode and where he keeps his secret stash of snacks in the living room and the brand of aftershave he uses and all that jazz. basically, you just waltz in whenever you want. so no, you are not used to jungkook welcoming you by the door.
âwhat do you mean âit slippedâ? what happened to babe, baby, my love?â he whines as he tails you to his living room.

Youâre in the middle of putting your earrings on when he wraps his arms around your waist. He watches you in complete admiration. âYou look beautiful, love.â
To that, you roll your eyes but mouth out a thank you. Jungkook scoffs at your dry response before pulling you away from the mirror. He pushes you back gently, pressing you against the wall with a devious smile.
âI know that look,â you place your hand on his chest and give him a warning look. Heâs given you this look way too many times at such bad timing. You promised yourself not tonight. âKeep it in your pants, baby.â
He laughs lightly, immediately accepting defeat as you turn around to continue your final touches. Jungkook then leans in, resting his chin on your shoulder.
âTwenty minutes,â he suggests, beginning to kiss the side of your neck. You shiver, stunned at how itâs been years yet he still makes you feel as eager and willing as the first time. You look at your reflections and shake your head.
âWe canât be late to dinner with the boys! Weâre always twenty minutes late.â
Jungkook could care less. He had others plans for tonight. Much much more important plans⊠Heâll take a wild guess that youâll definitely not care about being late after this.
He tightly wraps his arms around you again, making it completely known that he wasnât going to listen to you. Before you can protest, he lifts you up like a bride and carries you into your bedroom. Even when he throws you to the bed, you giggle at how gentle his drop was.
âSeriously, baby, not tonight! We havenât seen the boys in forever, I donât want to walk in and them just knowing Iâm freshly railedââ
He canât help but mentally laugh at how accurate your hunch is.
âShit, I think you lost an earring when I threw you on the bed,â he hisses, immediately dropping to his knees below you. He searches low as you immediately touch your ears, looking for the said missing earring.
âBaby!â you cry, worried about your jewelry. You were wearing the earrings he got you for your second anniversary, of course, youâd be near to tears. Except, you feel both earrings.
âWhat? No, I donât think I dropped an earring,â you pause, placing your hand over your neck. âMy necklace is still on.. What are you talking about?â
Jungkook looks around again, âno, itâs somewhere here, I swear. Youâre missing somethingâŠâ
You shuffle on the bed, sitting on your knees and bending over to see what heâs doing. Thatâs when you notice his posture. âAh! Got it,â
In no time, in a moment that feels as hazy as any life-changing moment could get; Jungkook looks up, revealing a ring. Something in the air changes. Everything feels lighter all of the sudden â like one big relief.
He greets this moment with a shy smile. âYou knew this was coming, right?â
You canât help but burst out a laugh. It almost sounds like a sob. Maybe you are crying right now. Who knows?
âShould I even do the whole speech thing orââ
âMake me cry, bitch,â you shove his shoulder playfully.
âYouâre so annoying!â he cries.
Jungkook canât help himself. He gets up, finding his place beside you. Jungkook leans to wipe the rolling tear from your face and sniffs too. He also feels so overwhelmed. Even though he practiced and prepared for this moment intensely over the past year, it felt utterly terrifying right now.
You hold his hand, the ring is tucked inside.
âThere are only a few things I know about lifeââ
You canât help but to squeal.
âSorry,â you giggle. âYou are dumb. So true, bestie. Argh, Iâm just excited. Sorry, baby. Go on,â
He clears his throat, giving you a playful glare. âAs I was saying before I was so rudely interruptedâŠâ
You smile. So does he.
âI know I have good friends. The kind that encourages me to choose love over fear. I know that Iâm always going to be learning. I will never be perfect or even come close to it,â he breathes, holding your hand tighter. âI know that everywhere I go; there is no home without you. I love everything you do. From being my alarm clock at the buttcrack of dawnââ
Hands covering your mouth in complete shock. âI canât believe my proposal has the word buttcrack in it.â
â⊠Hoseok said it would be okay!â
âWhy would you ever listen to Hoseok?â Jungkook feels like an idiot. He curses under his breath and you offer him a forgiving pinch on the cheek. âSorry, my bad again. Go on,â
âNo, I donât want to anymore,â he huffs. âShould I restart?â
He feels a little stupid. This is exactly why he knew it wouldnât be any good to propose to you with anything big and fancy. You two were better without pressure.
âNo, no, no,â you comfort. âAlarm clock, buttcrack of dawn⊠That stuff,â you remind him.
âRight.. Okay.. I love how you nag me to do the dishes, I love how you insist on doing my skincare, and I love how you would choose boba over me⊠I love everything you do. Thatâs something else I know.. I love you.â
Your heart is beating insanely fast.
âI know so because you are my best friend; loving you is my favourite thing to learn, and I am convinced that every good part of me is because of you. Youâve made me feel loved in ways that have changed me. For that, I know I am forever grateful for you,â he lifts your hand, bringing your hands to his lips. He kisses them slowly, eyes teary.
â___, I only know a few things in life. With every fight, every difficult surprise, every playful makeupâ I know this: I love you. Forever, I love you. For the rest of my life, I know I need to love you. Please let me do just thatâŠâ Jungkook gulps, pulling away from your hold and offering you the ring again.
â___, will you marry me?â
You take a deep breath before giving him a pouty look. âHmmm⊠Since when did you wanna marry me?â
You laugh, tugging him by his shirt collar to kiss him. Thereâs a small gap between you two and the tension makes Jungkook want to sob. Why were you playing with his feelings at a time like this? Itâs completely nerve-wracking. He spent the past three months writing, editing, and memorizing what to say. From the looks of it, youâre throwing it all out just for the shits and giggles.
âAsk me nicely,â you demand.
His mouth drops. âWha-what? I just did! Did you not hear everything I poured out to youââ
You take your eyes off him, looking around the room with your arms folded to your chest. âIâm waitingâŠâ
Then he gets it.
He remembers this like it was just yesterday. Like you two had freshly just begun again. Jungkook chuckles, leaning in for a kiss. âYou heard me the first time.â
âAsk me in Frenchââ
Oh, how he hates that he loves you.
Jungkook crashes your lips together and when your lips touch, he instantly sinks into your kiss. This was home. This was life and everything good life had to offer.. It was all you.
âYes,â you quickly say as you two both bull away to catch your breath. âYouâre the love of my life, Jungkook. Yes, I will happily marry you.â
âMarry me like.. Love me forever, marry me and have babies or not with me.. Or something?â he teases, as he slides the ring on. You both melt into each otherâs touch, admiring the beautiful diamond he placed on your pretty finger.
âOr something?â you tease. You turn to Jungkook, who looks at you lovingly. âLoving you, marrying you, having babies or not⊠This is it, isnât it?â
âWhat is?â
âThis is everything.â
âTwenty minutes,â Nam Joon announces, looking at his watch. âAs always.â
You two step in the dim lit restaurant together and greet all your friends.
âOh!â you laugh, squeezing Jungkookâs hand. âThis is our engagement dinner!â
They all stand up, each taking their time to congratulate you two. When it comes down to it, the most important friends of all charge at you with the best energy.
They knew it too.
They knew you two would end up here, yet it felt so differentâso deserving to be here right now. It has them walking on cloud nine as well. This was your safe place; your home. With friends, with Jungkook, your best friend.
Nam Joon, Yoongi, Seok Jin, and Hoseok all give you hugs, joking about how you two would definitely be late to your own wedding. You and Jungkook laugh, unable to defend yourselves. Right after, Taehyung and Jimin share a look with one another.
You wave them over and as they approach, Jimin mumbles:Â âdamn, sheâs still an idiot.â
âYou can guess where heâs hiding the ring but not your own engagement dinner after he proposes?â Jimin questions. âSome things never change, huh?â You groan, fighting the urge to bite back.
Jungkook is amused. He thanks Jimin and takes a step back when he sees whose next.
Taehyung laughs at Jiminâs comment, a little taken back as you squeal and find your way into his embrace. He wraps his arms around you, patting your head.
Jungkookâs heart glows at this sight. The two share a heartwarming smile before Taehyung scoffs, âonce an idiots to lovers story, always an idiots to lovers story.â
