Big Announcement

Well it’s finally time. We made an update post a while ago about the status on the project and we’ve made a decision. The Homestuck Rewrite project is officially closing.  We the mods and the team are all saddened to make this call but we all agree that it was the right one. With dwindling support, members, and interest the plug has been pulled on this almost 2 year long project. But it wasn’t for naught! Even though an update never came out that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing to show. 

We’ll be posting ever piece of writing, concept art, notes, and maybe even some documents that we can find just so you all who have stayed with us can see the vision we had for this project. 

We will also be opening up the Discord we’ve been using as a general hang out space for people who were interested in the project and wanted to see some of the history of it, for various fandoms, and a place to connect with former and current Homestuck fans. But again, we are so, so, sorry that this project never finished. It was started by a bunch of kids who were upset at the epilogues and bit off more than we could chew. 

We hope to see you, the followers, your friends, and maybe even the former members of the project return to the Discord to catch up and have some fun.

Hey, is this project still active? It seems/seamed really promising.

Unfortunately, due to lack of interest via the fandom and our team, the project is currently on hiatus and the mod team is deciding what to do with it going forward.

We would love to see at least one update come out but like I said, we've seen little to no interest in it. Also a good portion of our staff have left the team due to complications with school, work, or personal reasons.

If there was a sudden increase in activity and interest for the project, as well as applicants who would like to bring the project to life, then I really do believe that we could get the project rolling again.

We realize that we have a reasonable amount of people following this project and we really don't want to let you all down!!! Worst comes to worst we'll post the script and concept art we have for the first update and call it a wraps, but I personally really don't want that to happen.

So if you have anyone who's really interested in this project and willing to help please let us know! We have a semi-strict requirement for applicants since we want to make it look and feel like the original Homestuck, but at this point those regulations may be a bit looser.

This project is really interesting, and I was wondering if there are any positions you need filled specifically. I'd love to help, and I have a wide skill set. Looking at the list of positions, I should be able to do nearly anything there? I only really know the basics of coding, but I'm a quirk learner, and have access to someone who can quickly teach me more. I've never attempted to copy the homestuck art style, and that would be the most difficult thing for me to attempt, but I'm willing to try!

I have some follow up questions, if you don't mind, (and sorry for the reblog from my side blog.)

What all would being part of the creative team entail? Same goes for most assistant. I don't currently have recent examples for the majority of things I would apply for, are they necessary? If so, would you rather I find the most recent examples I can, or produce current examples? Are there any relevant time limits i should be aware of?

Sorry for sounding so professional, i haven't done a project like this in ages, so it's a bit nerve wracking. I hope i can be of help in the future!

Hi! Sorry for the late response, but here are some answers! 

The creative team works on creating the plot for our rewrite, and making outlines of each update for the writers to turn into a script. The mod assistant (assuming that’s what you meant) helps the mods with scheduling and keeping the server running/active.

Examples are necessary for all parts except creative team and mod assistant, but examples for those are still appreciated. The most recent examples would be preferred, with the time frame being the last 4-6 months. There aren’t any deadlines at the moment, but we’re getting to a point where we’ll be making some soon, mostly for the artists.

What exactly does the Lore Keeper do? I was just looking at the form to see if I'd be interested in joining.

Lore keepers are sort of like researchers and librarians! They have to have a good grasp on Homestuck and it’s lore, story, plot, etc. We currently have a large document with most of the information from homestuck proper that was created by the lore keeper team previously.

Since we have this document and due to the nature of the lore keeper position, it’s recommended that you should apply for another position as well if you want to be more involved in the project :)

Heyyyy guys.....

Okay so, I know it’s been... A Minute... since our last update, but we have news!!! 

The entire script for the first update(s) has been written, and we have all our concept art and are now working on the final panels. 

I know it’s been quite a while with some radio silence, but there has been a pandemic and a bunch of other wild nonsense. 

However, we’re not going to give up! And in order to make this update as good as it can be, we’re reopening applications!

There’s going to be a new position, as well as a few more questions just so that we can make sure everything is running smoothly :)

Applications will be open for one week, from April 11th to April 17th!

We can’t wait to see you all, and hope to be able to work with you in the future!

So is this gonna be a rewrite as in its a completely different story, or ur keeping the general/major plot points of the epilogues & hs^2 but ur making it better? I’m sure whatever y’all make is gonna be great ^_^

Our plan is to first give Homestuck itself a proper ending, starting at the end of Act 7. From there we’re going to throw the epilogues and hs^2 into a trashcan and rewrite it, major plot points and all. So the result should end up looking pretty different. Hope this helps!

While we're a little unsure of what you mean here, we're trying to stay away from too many non-canon romantic ships. That being said, Dave and Jade just being friends is definitely a possibility, and will likely appear at one point or another

An update on the update!

Hello everybody! Mod Fazed here with an update, and a bit of an apology.  To start off I’m so sorry for the radio silence on our social media. With members across the globe, as well as school being in session, writing time can be a bit difficult to schedule sometimes.  However this does NOT mean we’ve been doing nothing! While I can’t share much about the inner working of the project (very secret), I can share this picture with you all!

“Mod Fazed!” you may be saying, “what are these random numbers?”  Dear reader I hear you. I read your thoughts. And I can happily tell you that those numbers are the pages of the working script for the first update(s).  We haven’t just been sitting around! Our very cool and very rad writers have been working very hard to get an update that you, the fans, will enjoy that reads nearly identical to a canon update.

Again, terribly sorry for the wait, what was supposed to be a short update turned into the 30 page multi-update. But we do have quite a bit in store for you all, so we greatly appreciate your patience with us. Have a lovely week, Mod Fazed and the Homestuck ReWrite team <3

Currently we’re in early development as most of our applications joined only yesterday, so some aspects of the story are unclear.

I’m also sorry to say that we can’t exactly share what we have planned in the plot so far :(
