We’re all gonna make it.
I found the DVD for a show (I love Lucy) from your first fic! Do you recommend it?
tbh I do recommend it, if only to sort of see what cultural commentary was happening in the 1950s. while ultimately navigating an inherently conservative and reactionary time, Lucille Ball (the comedian) was herself investigated by the House of Unamerican Activities for being registered as a communist voter (her lawyers, and herself, would say allegedly but still lmao), so that's pretty cool to me.
the show, having a certain amount of jester's privilege imo, frequently touched upon topics like gender, although ultimately were heavily curtailed by CBS showrunners in what they were allowed to depict (an example: when Lucy was pregnant no one in the show was allowed to actually say "pregnant," they had to say "expecting" or "having a baby." another example: they had to fight the studio for Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball's real husband who portrayed her husband Ricky on show, being allowed to be cast as her husband in the first place, because as a Cuban there were exec. doubts as to whether he was "white" enough, again a product of the extreme conservative battlefield of 1950s TV).
fair warning though, some of the stuff does NOT age well, like there are jokes making light of domestic violence, cultural appropriation, those sorts of things

hi there! i just wanted to say you are like THEE dm fic writer for me. and not only that but your stuff is just honest to god comforting. Idk whether it's how seamlessly you balance daniel and armand's freaky endeavors with the tender domestic moments, or if it's the attention to detail in everything and the fact that most of your fics are set in places im familiar with (i wont lie sometimes i'll reread from the tip of cupid's arrow just bc i LOVE the thought of them being somewhere i know and love like the herald square macy's) regardless, every time i revisit your works i always feel so warm and fuzzy. ok that's all. tysm for your lovely words!!! <3
AAAAA thank you so much this is legit so sweeet!! and ngl doing the research for fics is often one of my favorite parts, and I remember that when I was writing my DM series I was very much trying to imagine myself in late 70s nyc because for me personally, I have to really be able to make a vivid mental image when I'm reading a fic, so it became one of the things I cared most about when writing. like it's absolutely not a requirement to spend hours researching exactly the way things were to craft a good reading experience and taking artistic liberties is one of the great things about being a fic writer, but me personally I will absolutely spend half an hour looking through historical weather data to make sure that I'm not describing the temperature wrong for that exact time haha. also nyc is just really really fun to research lol
slight projection but i you know when you hug someone in bed but your arms press on their ribs and it's uncomfortable for both parties, i have a wee headcanon that armand floats slightly and allows daniel to do a full body wrap around him. tee hee.
as;ldkfj aaaaa that's actually perfect for them! I feel like if we're going down that road, Armand could also rock back and forth slightly like a bassinet with Daniel as his lil baby
