Perhaps it slips your mind that the crowds you see in this picture are not returning to anything. Our homes and streets no longer exist. Everything has turned into emptiness, rubble upon sand. All that remains are the photos we carry in our memories and a bit of love weāve tucked deep inside our hearts, to nurture our children with, a love for the soil that knows our faces and our souls well.
We are not returning to houses, but to resist all this injustice, to rebuild, to plant, and to light up our homeland anew. We walk tens of kilometers, carried by longing, not by strength.
And now, as we hear news that the crossing between Gaza and Egypt may soon reopen, at first only for the wounded and urgent cases, we hold onto a fragile hope. Until our turn comes, we must prepare. Hey, so we're completely broke this month after having to pay a surprise $1000 utility bill from our landlord to cover the yearly heating cost for our building, even after he raised our monthly rent last year by $150 to "cover the rising utility costs" supposedly to prevent exactly these kinds of surprise bills. Apparently since we live in an old building without individual meters for heat, our landlord is allowed to average out the total utility costs for the entire building between all tenants, which results in us being fucked over financially every fall having to pay for our neighbors (supposed) combined heat consumption.
I honestly don't know how we're gonna afford to keep living here with the rent raising year on year and being expected to pay for our landlord's neglect and shitty accounting. Our income is already barely enough to live paycheck to paycheck, and with both of us being unemployable for the foreseeable future I don't know how we are gonna avoid being priced out of our own home.
We're trying to figure out how to move as soon as possible, but in the meantime it would be a huge help if anyone would help us afford groceries, necessities and meds until we get paid next month.

I mentioned this to my mother the other day, that i dont think he even did it, and she pulled a "wtf" face and was like "how did you come to that conclusion" so I laid out the various things that don't add up and the glaring procedural fuck ups and the targetted campaign to make everyone think he's guilty.
At one point she goes "ok, but hold on - if he didnt do it then why did he confess?" She was FLOORED when I told her that he hadn't. That he has maintained his innocence since the start.
And this is my mother, who is usually across this kind of thing. She had no idea about the missing bodycam footage that happens to align with the time they took his backpack out of sight before bringing it back and opening it for the """"""first""""" time and finding the supposed evidence inside.
She straight up thought that HE was the one who called himself in. Thought he'd gone to Macca's for a last burger then called the cops on himself and confessed. When she learned that wasnt true, she was SHOCKED.
Keep talking to people about this. Keep reiterating that they havent found him guilty of anything yet, and that they've breached his rights in several different ways since arresting him, and that he and the UHC shooter are almost certainly different people.
Too many people think that he confessed. Too many think that he's guilty, when the odds are good that he VERY MUCH IS NOT.

You'll have a hard time finding this in the news because it's being covered up, but from February 4-present the RCMP have been conducting raids on multiple Mi'kmaw reserves part of Acadia First Nation. Their excuse is that they are searching for illegal cannabis.
During the raids, so far they:
Stole a number of truck houses
Stole money from an 8-yo boy's piggy-bank that he had been saving for two years
Invaded homes and destroyed personal property, including basketwork and carvings
Broke the door down of a bathroom occupied by a 14-yo boy as he was using it - the boy has been traumatized by this
Assaulted a man for questioning why they were searching his property without providing a warrant, pinning him into the snow
Cut power of security cameras to hide these actions
I cannot stress enough that the RCMP coming down this hard on our people over motherfucking cannabis is nothing but a racist excuse. There are countless, countless, countless white-owned massive grow-ops making big money without cops lifting a single finger.
