When I was diagnosed with a mental illness, i felt so ashamed. I started experiencing psychotic symptoms a couple years ago. I started isolating and I felt that my life was over. I didn't think someone with my mental illness could ever be happy or successful. After the last time I went off my meds, I was telling my friend about one of the psychotic episodes I had and when I was telling her, I couldn't help but laugh. When I was able to start laughing at those things, the shame and the feeling of inevitable doom left me. I decided then that I would stop looking at my mental illness as a weakness and start viewing it as something that makes me original. There is healing in laughter. A lot of my posts are about therapy and stigma. I have been going to therapy on and off for the last 8 years. The process of going to therapy and trying to heal from trauma is a very serious thing. On my blog, I like to focus on those awkward/funny moments in therapy that most can relate to. I hope you enjoy checking out my blog. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. if you see someone being interrupted in a conversation, acknowledge them, don’t let them be pushed to the side. if you see someone lagging behind, walk beside them. if someone is being ignored, take the step to include them. always remind people of their worth. it hurts when it feels like you’re being forgotten. that small gesture can mean a lot.
