Also given the news, just a reminder to give the Hermits their space and not confront them about this. Please don’t bring it up in their streams, video comments, social media, etc. Imagine how painful it would be to learn of such personal news while being watched live by hundreds. If they choose to make a public statement, let them do it in their own time. Don’t hound individuals for their comment or assume their silence is from a lack of love.

TFC was someone who was very near and dear to all of them, and I know the personal impact on them is far more than we can fathom. At the end of the day the Hermits are just regular people. People who deserve the time and space to process this loss on their own time. So please let’s be respectful in these times.

King of Miners

The signs of him are everywhere.

On a server full of flashy builds, of skyscrapers and perimeters, it is undeniable where he has been. The mines snake through the underneaths of all things, a warren of cleared stone. A network that can be traversed almost safer than portals to the Nether, though the walk is a bit longer, and only the maker remembers which exit is where.  Most of the time.

They say if you come down into the mines and listen, you can still hear him digging somewhere at the edges. But if you follow the sound, there will simply be a dead end, and the sound will be behind you, mixed with a hearty laugh. Dig two more block anyways. There is diamonds just beyond, for those who play his game finish his work.

His pickaxe found its way back to the birch shack, still in mint-worn condition. Looking like it would break at any moment, and yet never doing so. It will be strange to see it covered in the dust of time, rather than the dust of digging. Though perhaps the open roof will wash both away in the rare times of rain on the server.

It becomes tradition to leave a two-block hole in whatever flooring you make, either at the edge of the inside of a building, or just outside its door. Dug down to the level of the warrens. In case the rumors are unfounded, and he simply needs help finding a way home. Or even if the rumors are true, it still leaves a way for him to visit.

He was not the loudest. He was not the boldest. He was not the fastest. But he was kind. He was funny. And he was loved. He is loved, still.

Tinfoilchef shall hold his title as King of Miners. He lives on in the feel of a pick in the hand, the shine of a torch on stone. The echo of a laugh through a tunnel.

He will not be forgotten.
