I love the crochet community because no matter what level you're at or how simple or complicated your pieces are we're still a community. its like this unspoken friendship between crafters. the silent support. the spoken support. sharing free patterns. supporting paid patterns. liking posts. buying pieces at craft fairs and online because we know the value and time put into every single piece. getting excited over people learning and teaching the community in the same. I love the yarn collective of people. we see eachother and we dont judge. we laugh together and we find connection in our proximity. ♡
The bloom crochet fingerless gloves go live in my shop at the end of the month (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)
I was watching this video by Airi Pan and it really got me thinking about how I view my own art. I've fallen victim to the loop of "if you're not the biggest artist your art isn't good" and it sounds ridiculous on paper but she offers such an introspective view into the topic that is so eye opening. In this video she shares what she learned from visiting the small town of Taketa, Japan. The people of this town practice such careful quality of art even with a "small audience" they are so happy to share their creations with as many or as few people that come to their town and are so proud of their work. They allow themselves to be imperfect at their hobbies or practices and are so genuine and passionate it inspires me to take a similar approach to my art. For anyone reading this take this as the permission to be imperfect, your art still has a lasting impact on people even if your likes dont match that. The quality of your work and the passion put into it will speak for you, and a reminder that you dont have to be the biggest creator to be happy. <3
