It’s good to have Carol back, if only briefly, and as more than just a topic of conversation. The emotional intensity of her reunion with Daryl and the delicacy of their unspoken understanding are a welcome respite from all the grim scuffles and stalemates and unstable détentes that now dominate The Walking Dead more than ever. Their dialogue also feels unusually nuanced, partly because McBride plays Carol with such dignified strength and tremulous sorrow, but also because we get another showcase of the love between these two that’s been unspoken yet evident for so long.

Over the last couple of weeks,I’ve seen a lot of talk about representation on TV mostly in regards to why this ship or that ship is better. (and USUALLY Anti-Caryl in nature) or why this character or that one is better.

While I am not about to tell others they are wrong for wanting representation I want to share what Carol represents to me and many many others. 

this is NOT a shipping post nor is it a post to trash another character. It is simply ME sharing what it means to ME having someone like Carol on my screen.

When Daryl is funny, it’s not usually on purpose. Typically it’s his wry way of seeing things that strikes the audience with perfect comedic timing.

Except…with Carol. He purposefully tries to make her laugh in order to lighten the burdens she feels.
