Jackie sighed contentedly as they splayed themselves out in the armchair. If anyone ever tried to accuse the Morningstars of skimping out on the furniture he'd be sure to throw them right on this thing. "They'll be out in a matter of minutes~" They quietly muse to themselves with a yawn. Stretching out their paws and then their legs, they lazily recount the days events. He had gotten up first so he decided to make everyone eggs and toast. He set the table, put out utensils, the whole nine yards! Next, he busied himself with getting ready for the day. Changing clothes, brushing teeth, a short dip under the water to help with the shoulders, bidding a good morning to the stuffies on the bed before finishing up with a quick glance in the mirror. They chased Nifty and her roaches around the hotel, did morning activities with everyone, took a walk, ran a couple of errands and now they were here. Getting cozy. They close their eyes and begin telling themselves a story.
"Wah!" Their fur bristles as they are startled completely out of their attempt at sleep and launched onto the ground. "ugggh," they're quick to sit up, staring back at the other accusingly. "Hey what the hell was tha- oh Alastor!" Now there's an unexpected surprise.
"Nothing more than wanting to plead my case. I think I've been wrongly put down here....not that Heaven is looking much better from where I'm sitting but I still want to talk with someone face to face about it."
Alastor's grin widens just a tad at Jackie's loud startled reaction. He wouldn't have admitted it out loud, but he enjoys catching others off guard, perhaps a little more than he should. There's something delicious in watching their walls and defences crumbling, allowing him to get a quick taste of their vulnerability.
So he just stands there and watches while the jackalope yelps and tumbles out of his seat, the lightest hint of amusement in his expression. Oh, it never gets old.
The Radio Demon tilts his head on one side when the sinner's annoyance seems to instantly evaporate the moment they realise who's responsible for their gaffe. It's a curious thing to witness, especially since he can tell that it's not out of fear. Jackie is wary of him, as anyone with a brain should be, but that's mostly it.
It has him wonder if it's because they are as blind as Charlie is or if it's because they are foolish enough to think that being part of the Hotel little group is enough to keep them in one piece.
"Wrongly sentenced to eternal damnation? Oh my!" He repeats, with a genuine hint of delight. "How comes? It sounds like you have a good story to tell, my dear. Don't keep me in suspense!"
He settles over the seatback of the armchair, looking down at where the jackalope is still on the floor. They can stay there, for what he's concerned, as long as his temporary curiosity is satisfied.
"I can't say that I have much of an opinion about Heaven. I don't care about it. I have everything I want and need down here. Besides, I truly don't belong among the angels, and that's fine with me."
Sitting up, Jackie rolls their red eyes as they quickly come to the conclusion that it would be in his best interest to stay on the ground for the time being. Letting out a little huff, they cross their arms in a fashion not dissimilar to how a cartoon character may in a show of exaggerated dramatics . He had a couple of ideas as to why the Radio Demon felt the need to jump out at him like that but throws that lone of questioning aside in favor of an actual interaction. After all, this is the first time since his initial meeting with the other that he's chosen to speak to him. It'd be better to make a good impression.
They aren't surprised by his response. He is the Radio Demon after all. What could Heaven possibly provide him with that he didn't already have through years of maintained mystique and a fear of probably truly dying? "It's not very different from other sinners stories," he doesn't want the guy to have his expectations too high, "but I don't mind sharing all the same."
"I don't consider myself a violent person or at least, I didn't up until the last year or so of my human life." Shrugging, he leans back on his arms in a vain attempt at a minute amount of comfort. "But uh, I guess things change when one gets pushed too far." He frowned, looking self conscious for a moment. " I just never thought that I'd get to that point, ya know?" He folds his arms over his legs, already feeling a rush of emotions in the back of their throat.
