bittersweet
sweetness, joy, the light in someoneâs eyes.
sunlight, warmth, a bliss blue sky.
whispers of sweet nothings, a simple demise.
one good deed, and something dies inside.
bitterness on my tongue, too much to take.
my stomach tied in knots, i start to shake.
longing for gentleness, my chest aches.
how much more until i break?
one inside joke here, one shared smile there,
the smile plastered on my face says âi dont care.â
sugar and lemon, swirled into one.
bitter, sweet; no one knows the war thatâs come and gone.
