“When tragedy strikes and Nancy and Jonathan are killed in a car accident, they name both Will and Mike as sole guardians of their only child, a six month old baby girl. Having been estranged for months, they must come back together to honor their late siblings final wishes and raise their niece.

Set in 90's NYC”

Loosely based off an old 2010’s romcom, but heavily influenced by When Harry Met Sally, FRIENDS, and 90’s New York City vibes in general :)

I’ve been drafting and outlining this off and on since February and I’m pretty excited for it, so I hope you all like some angsty byler who are forced into living together and raising a child together ☺️

Imagine:

Actual apocalyptic season 5, it’s centric to the Byers family again. Demogorgons terrorizing the town, Hawkins all but abandoned and considered a lost cause.

Instead of Holly being taken, it’s Jonathan

Will gets frustrated that his mom isn’t trying as hard as she did to get him back, playing it safe, waiting, so he takes it upon himself to sneak off, and go into the upside down himself to get his brother back.

Mike, being Mike, follows him because he can’t lose him again.

And actual psychological horror from the psychological villain.

He can’t look at Mike for too long, not now, not like this. Not when every minute he spends with him could be the last. “We can’t protect you here.” “Bullshit,” Mike says, “I’ll be fine.” His voice is softer when he adds, presumably to El, though Will is still refusing to look at either of them, “I want to protect you.”

i just saw someone on tiktok comment that ppl shouldn’t read or write byler fics bc will’s actor was a minor season 1-4 and that we’re all predators as if most if not all pre-season 4 fics are not at all smutty (and as a fic writer who doesn’t even really write smut ever tf??) i don’t know, something doesn’t sit right about calling a gay ship predatory when not a peep is said on the straight ships where the actors were ALSO minors

I like to think: mike comes up with the ideal plans, will makes the most out of what's around them, lucas figures out the bad guy's patterns which gives them an advantage, and dustin thinks of elements and solutions the others might miss!

I've got so many thoughts that I'd like to explore in other posts/art but until then uhhh I'm always here to yell about this au if anyone wants to 🙈
