@hopelessstudentx
ken is just ken.
same energy:
That last one is just so... dude.
reading a paper on quality of life among 45-to-70-year-olds with Down syndrome:
“Individuals expressed a desire to be allowed to go to bed when they wanted to.”
Imagine.
I lived in a room and board that failed the burrito test. (”If you’re not allowed to get up in the middle of the night to microwave a burrito, you live in an institution.”) No one stopped me from going to bed, but they did tell me I had to have my lights out by 10, and that I had to be out of the house by 10 the next morning. When I complained to my outpatient program that I needed more help than I was getting, they threatened me with board and care, where my cell phone would be taken away and I would lose contact with the outside world. My case manager sounded so damn smug, like he had caught me out, when he said, “if you’re really as helpless as you say, then you need to be in a board and care.” Like my only options were struggling to do things I couldn’t do, or surrendering my life to an institution.
When I tried to talk about these things with other people, they always rationalized it away. (I told my dad once that my caseworker was reading my e-mails as I wrote them, demonstrating extreme disrespect for my privacy, and he said, “Well, she’s probably making sure you don’t use the internet to goof off.” I was 22 years old.)
People tend to mock the idea that telling an adult when to go to bed, when to eat, etc., is a human rights violation, even though they would find it outrageous and absurd if anyone came into their lives to do the same thing to them.
And this is what people seem to think when they tell disabled activists we’re just not disabled enough to understand that some people really do need to be locked up and deprived of all autonomy.
Here’s the paper:
https://library.down-syndrome.org/en-us/research-practice/06/3/quality-life-ageing-down-syndrome/
They don’t want *any* activists for mentally/developmentally disabled people. If you’re able to advocate for your rights, you’re not “disabled enough” - and if you were disabled enough you wouldn’t be able to advocate for your rights.
is there a label that ACTUALLY means 'attraction regardless of gender' and doesn't have transphobic origins?
yes it’s called “bisexual”
We really truly and severely need to do something about the "narcissistic abuse" fad. like do you guys know and understand people with NPD are more likely to successfully attempt suicide (often with no warning or announcement and a solid plan) than any other PD (yes, including BPD). has anyone considered for one second that this may have something to do with the fact you can't fucking fart on the internet without hitting a post about "dealing with narcissists".
NPD often turns inward into a toxic perfectionism and even the grandiose subtype can turn into a case of fragile/vulnerable subtype in the face of extreme, berating criticism (like, yknow, not being able to google your disorder without getting 1000 results about how irredeemable you are)
when you see people stigmatising NPD: call it out. tell people "narcissistic" doesn't equal abuser, it doesn't equal toxic, and it isn't acceptable to use it as such. remind people there are other words they can use. don't let it slide just because "oh but they're venting about trauma :(". A vent that contributes to the trauma of people who read it is not a vent. do not drop the subject. do not forget about it. do not be scared of confrontation.
i've lost damn good friends to this disorder. not because of their behaviour, but because of stigma that made them feel like suicide was doing the world a favour.
it HAS to stop, and it has to stop NOW.

I did a deep dive and a write up on the origins of Narcissistic abuse
Amputees continue to be the funniest people on the planet why are the rest of us even trying
when people talk about quote unquote “antis” and try to ascribe the belief that fetishizing abuse is wrong to some low-brow absorption of unquestioned social norms, it’s really ridiculous, because if you would actually log off and take a look at the world around you, you would realize that it is in fact your belief system that is largely encouraged.
we live in a world that at best turns a blind eye to and at worst encourages and fetishizes rape, incest, and paedophilia. take a look at the list of celebrities who signed a petition in support of woody allen. go back through the tiktoks about the depp/heard trial and see how many people- even women- were moaning over audio of amber heard describing her assault and saying they wished it had happened to them. look at porn blogs and websites and whatnot and see how many of them have “daddy” kinks or depict sex between step-family. read about matt gaetz and other gop members whose fetishization of teenage girls has gone unquestioned or even supported by their followers. sammy guevara talked about wanting to rape sasha banks and he still has a job while she had to sit down and explain to the grown ass man who said he wanted to rape her that it wasn’t okay to say those things. look at how many men in hollywood have allegations against them, and how many of those men still have a job. hell, just look at the way people talk about sex workers and you’ll find almost all of these things in one place!
the world already caters to your belief system. the world already devalues survivors and encourages blind fetishization of children and abuse. you pretending that criticism of these things is oppression and tying your obsession with them to your kweer identity (a selfish thing to do when “groomer” rhetoric is getting your fellows killed!) does not change any of this.
cop shows are like "dammit! we would have caught babyeater mike by now if people didn't have rights,"
With all due respect, we know the answer to this.
this feels so fucking silly to say out loud but I genuinely think we're kind of negatively skewing body expectations for people w/ penises to the kind of ludicrous degree that its inevitably gonna cause mental health issues and complexes and dysphoria, particularly for trans/nb people. Big dicks are dope as hell but calling normal cocks small for being under like 6" and making fun of someone for that is fucking stupid considering the global average is between 4.5"-5.1". Youre gonna make some nice lovely young fag who hasnt had an in-person penis experience yet spiral and become obsessed and buy alt-med dick pills or dick extension surgery or some shit. I dont know how many of the people I've had a hook up with/dated that apologized repeatedly during sex because they were worried they weren't "normal" down there or bottomed out of shame. We're turning so many potential tops into bottoms with this madness
This is articulated and better said than what I can write

Getting a new porn bot everyday like it’s an advent calendar
if fantasy genre reincarnation were real (ie, the kind where everyone always reincarnates as human and can recover most if not all previous-life memories) humans would use it for such DUMB SHIT you guys. like every other week you’d get headlines like “20 year old cave diver vanishes down This One Fucking Cave for the 5th life in a row.” and the body of the article would be like “His last words were ‘This time I’m going to find out what’s at the bottom of that crevasse!’ We’ll see you when you get your memories back in 16 years Dylan, the scientific community can’t wait to find out what was at the bottom of that crevasse.”
“Woman who has spent past 12 lives eating deadly substances reports that lava tastes ‘acrid.’”
not mine but hilarious
OH YES
