You recall no conscious decision to attend the festival when news of it leaks in a steady trickle through word of mouth; your shoulders roll forward and you carry on. It lingers in the corner of your mind though, a brush of a reminder here and there -- at some point, you find yourself moving along with the flow of traffic towards Paralia with a heavy-hanging smile, your hands resting lightly in the pockets of your jacket.
Honestly, you've always been a bit of a sucker for parties or festivals, even if you're usually attending them alone. The solitude has never bothered you; or if it has, you've become too accustomed to it to pay any real mind.
You're given a single flower when you arrive, slim and pearlescent with its petals folded outwards. So you pinch it gently between your fingers, let your gaze wander out among the crowds of people and blooms. Spring is beautiful, even if you're not sure it suits you -- but you amble out anyway, saunter lazily around group to group, occasionally pausing but never feeling the inclination to stop completely.
Until you catch sight of a very dark, very alone someone who stands stiff and straight amongst the festivities. You might say he looks even more out of place than yourself, and the thought spurs your forward.
"You're supposed to wear the flowers, aren't you?"
And you reach up, tuck your white blossom into the folds of his shirt -- it's a fleeting movement, you're sure not to touch, and your hand is back by your side a moment later. Still, you're deceivingly light; all bright eyes with a smile to match.
"Are you planning on taking part in the festivities, or are you just here to watch?" You can't say if he's particularly receptive to your attempt at conversation, but you forge on regardless, not one to be swayed. "That's all I've been doing, anyway. Aha... I hope you don't find me rude, but surely no one wants to be alone at a festival."
