"Do I know what you mean?" Tony was always, always, going to push buttons. It was quite easily one of his favourite past-times. Maybe because he thrives on the chaos, because he likes the energy that comes with it. He's not entirely sure and honestly, he doesn't care all that much about the why's. "Then what would you suggest, hm?"
"You're a real son of a gun, you know that?" Offering a small grunt in reply, he stretched his arms out and willed the tiredness to disperse. Hopefully, into something more manageable. There's no real anger in his tone despite Tony's ribbing. Whether it was all smoke and mirrors, he hadn't the time to divulge deeper.
"Dunno, I figure you know the best places?" Steve strugged. A yawn slipped past his defences alongside the awakening of his stomach. Damn, how long had it been since he'd had a proper meal? "Well, that answers that." He couldn't help but huff a laugh."I'm starving, what's the best you can do on a moments notice?"
planetariums, art museums, aquariums, science museums my beloved
"Then what did you mean, Steve?" He was almost tempted to be less formal and use his last name instead. But he'd be somewhat nice, given that he was clearly not fully awake yet. Been there.
"I didn't intend toâI mean, shit â Tony. I meant, if we're gonna do this, then we've gotta find some way to work together without killing ourselves."
Still early days. They both had their differences and had argued bitterly, but, damn, this back and forth was getting old. Steve suppressed a yawn, fingers scrubbing at his sand-grit eyes. "Want to do this over breakfast?" A pause. "Shut up, you know what I mean."
@storyborn liked for a one-liner!
"That's not what I meant, and you know it."
Steve pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling as if a hammer was colliding with skull. Why now? Why couldn't this wait until he'd properly woken up?
@paramourist liked for a one-liner!
"Hey, you seem a little familiar."
Or at least his voice does. Something Aidan can't shake off as a mere coincidence.
Like for a one-liner? (âÂŽâĄ`â)

open: ellie alexanders. any dynamic welcome.
"please don't tell anyone i'm out here." ellie pleads quietly, hiding her face behind her hands. "i just needed a second to breathe."
"I won't tell a soul, promise." From experience, Aidan had those black days where his chest felt as if it were alight and his breathing so rapid that he could've sworn he'd drowned on the spot.
"Just keep yourself safe. You're not alone, okay?" He said, drinking from his Starbucks mug, watching her with keen interest. "If it helps, I can listen to whatever's bothering you?"

"Why, are you offering to pay?" Steve cannot help but grin. Genuinely, it was nice to be the one checked in on, instead of the reverse. And, hey, he could eat. His stomach said as much with a protesting whine.
"Looks like that answers your question." He huffed a laugh, a little sheepishly. "Sorry, yeah, that sounds good. Any recommendations, uh, Clark Kent, was it?"
â How bad is it? â (mr. incredible)

"From a one to ten, uh, I'd say it's an eight." A broken arm twisted in the wrong direction, with minor scrapes, yet he cannot fathom how Superman hadn't noticed. Must've been some weird healing factor, perhaps?
"Gotta be honest with you, I've heard of high pain tolerance, but, uh, you've got to take better care of yourself."
The acknowledgement earned him a minute tilt of her head. She is not merely looking at him, but through and around. Such unusual energy to find on this day. How could she not make use of this chance encounter?
"'Tis not often I see an angel among humans. Your kind seems as rare as mine sometimes." Mortem mused. Any tension in her form melted away, choosing conversation was more beneficial than potential hostility. Her hands settled to clasped behind her back idly as a thin smile formed on her lips.
Zerachiel shivered as if someone had walked across his grave. His eyes are upon her, studying the various sigils with slight interest. The comment earned her a huff of breath and a roll of his eyes.
"No, it isn't." At least he can agree with that. Most couldn't sense what he truly was, which in hindsight was a benefit. Who'd want the archangel of death darkening your doorstep?
"Rare, true, but not forgotten." He could sense her properly now, her energy like a black hole, ever present and yet powerful. Witches often had the effect that just by their guise, they could draw you in like flies to honey. Until it was too late; Zerachiel reflected. "And here I thought it would be a peaceful walk." He said, rubbing his arms to save them from the cold. "So, this is your domain, correct? Hmm, not a terrible place to dwell. Must be a pretty simple way of living, I assume?"

exploring the value of people in an unfeeling universe, and the meanings we make ourselves
The dancer hated the accusations, but she had to be the one to remain calm. She let a few moments of silence pass by them. âItâs not sorcery and Iâm not a witch. Itâs just a skill that I learned.â
That was a loaded question as the answer could lead to multiple answers⊠Both good and bad. Ignored the last question, she spoke up. âInstead of the integrations, let me show you and itâll be all the proof you need. You should know by now, nothing is going to make me leave.â
"A skill?" Now, that was intriguing, irritating as it was, he couldn't exactly fault her for making a living. Money was becoming scarce ever since his curse. With no king to rule the kingdom, a government had taken over much of the handling. Or so he heard from what petty gossip drifted down from the village. His anger faded a little, ebbing now in place of the smouldering fury in which he'd erupted earlier.
Her stubbornness earned her a scoff, a final hiss of annoyance before his paws folded against his chest in such a petulant manner that it was as if he were a mere child, sulking after a tantrum. "If it will get you to leave.. then. Proceed."
The Doctor only picked up snippets of what Luke said--new, mind, interest, time--his focus on getting to the lower level as quickly as possible, the continued beeping in his ears causing his head to pulse.
He was surprised to see a teenager, then very quickly wasn't as he thought about how often they got themselves into trouble.
"First--eye contact when we're talking, unless you're okay with psychic communication--second, what are you doing here?"
At first, Luke didn't respond-he couldn't. His own heartbeat pulsed inside his skull alongside an unpleasant wave of vertigo. It didn't help that the room suddenly felt impossibly small. He tried to smile, as if that would change anything. "Oh, um, alright? Sorry, I didn't mean to."
The man's next comment, however, is enough to bring him back to reality. Luke's breathing slows to a moderate crawl. "J-just some work." Not a total lie, since he was working to garner informationâeven if his mum wasn't aware of his whereabouts. "Wait, I could ask you the same thing. You don't look like an employee either. You're not here to cover the whole thing up, are you?" It'll be a total waste, losing all that data to the government, or hell, even UNIT.
