Testerday I drank @anchorbrewing christmas/new year/winter brew. Initially excited, I was sustained with the bitter taste and give it 0/5 bottlecaps. Full review below: Look: Deep brown with a tan head and heavy lacing. Smell: Malt, toast, and fruits such as dates and figs. Taste: Heavy bread that sticks to the tongue with dates. I dont celebrate christmas but I had a Scaldis Noel from Brasserie Dubuisson and I give it a 4.5/5 bottlecaps. A smooth beer with a delightful smell and taste. Full review below: Look: Deep brown with a maroon tint. There was an off white head at first but it fizzled out with time. Smell: There is a scent I can't put my nose on but it is shart and sweet. There is also fig, orange, abreadyness with a mild alcohol note. Taste: Warm with a slight carbonation. More fug, and atrong malt/toast. A good beer even if the label was too #christmas for my taste. I give Sam Adams Winter Lager a 4/5 bottlecaps. Full review below: Look: Deep maroon with a white head that clings to the glass. Smell: Orange, clove, malt, a little bit of hops but primarily spice. Taste: A little weak with the mouthfeel. Mild carbonation and a lot of spice happened. Today I had not one but two Trader Joes products that are 5/5 bottlecaps! The first, is Trader Joe's JosephsBrau dark double bock lager. The second, is Trader Joe's Minty Dark Chocolate Stars. Full review of the beer below: Look: a deep copper when in soft light but when the light is host or use flash it is a dark brown a tan head that disappears and leaves no lacing. Smell: Stone fruit such as dark plums and dates. Molasses and smoke with some malty yeastyness to it. Taste: a full-body mouthfeel with little carbonation. The taste was more akin to smoke than sweet but overall a pleasant experience even if you have a sweet tooth. I still tasted molasses and malt and sweetened dates. Pairing: obviously anything from Trader Joe's but specifically meats or other savory items such as stews, roasts, or grilled. Today I had a #delightful @moderntimesbeer beer called Ice. I give it a 5/5 for a pretty color and light taste that doesn't pair with a heavy meal of hannukah! Chag sameach and full review below: Look: Straw color with a haze that typically isn't found in a Pilsner but looks pretty.  A barley discernable white head with no lacing. Smell: Earthiness and grain tied together with a sweet bubblegum scent. Taste: Wheat and lemon. There is a bitter finish but a malt aftertaste. Today I had @anchorbrewing Coffee Porter and I give it a 5 out of 5 bottlecaps! The taste and smell are delightful and like the name suggests this is the perfect after dinner, mid-desert beer! Full review below: Look: Dark. Not even a light can show the other side. A tan head that doesn't last long. Smell: Coffee, which according to the company, they add during the second fermentation. There is also some date and dark bread notes along with molasses. Because of the coffee you can pick up on some fruit/earthy quality. Taste: Esspresso, dark chocolate and some earthy tang with a very dry finish. I enjoyed the medium body mouthfeel but couldn't taste much else over the coffee.  Pairing: As seen in the photo I paired it with @traderjoes stelle di notte cookies. It is similar to pairing it with a coffee. A few weeks ago I had a farm house ale from @flyingfishbrew I give it a 3/5 bottlecaps because of the nice color and smell but the taste falls a little flat for me. Great for mowing the lawn or hoeing in the feilds! Full review below: Look: semi clear bright yellow with golden hues. A white head with heavy lacing. Smell: wheat and hay with malt aroma and some citrus pith. A little yeasty which isn't unexpected from the type of brew. Taste: sweet with a mild pine taste and finish. There is an aftertaste of hay and wet paper. A while back I had a Landshark Lager from Margaritaville Brewing Co. And I give it a 2.5 out of 5 bottlecaps for the nice looking brew but tasted too funky for my pallette. Look: clear gold with a small white head and equally small lacing. Smell: wheat, salt, and green pepper with a boquet of freshly cut grass.
