horse rising from the opaque depths of a large body of water the horses legs are not visible beneath the surface of the water and its head is dipped to allow just its chin to brush the nearly nonexistent waves as it strides toward the shore this horse goes against the tide and strives for something more but the stagnant nature of this photograph creates a cruel irony in that the struggle of the horse is immortalized but not its supposed success one more optimistic might suggest that the beauty of course is found in the journey and to capture the struggle is to capture it so that others may experience the addictive engagement of the contest without the suffering for what is success if not happiness brought on by a struggle proved worthy
