I did give you oxygen permeable membranes mostly as a safety feature against drowning and your body is extremely efficient when it comes to oxygen use so that does translate to the ability to operate underwater for several hours, but you should breathe standard air when possible. Also, due to the air whipped into it and the highly modified digestive system you can also eat ice cream to respirate.

Can a second core sample from a second affini be added to a haustorium after implantation?

Would that require growing a second haustorium with that new core sample alone to then be implanted and fuse/engage in symbiosis with the already present haustorium or could that core sample simply be added to wherever the core sample of a haustorium lives?

Would there perhaps need to be a secondary haustorium that needs to be grown with all core samples to be implanted and replace the already present one?

A second core sample can be added later and will grow in situ as the old haustorium replaces parts until preprogrammed parity is achieved, but the process is very slow, taking over a year. Acceleration comes with unacceptable risk.
