The Loretto Chapel Chapel staircase in New Mexico, is called “The Miraculous Stair” and is known for it’s helix design. They are roped off so you can’t climb them. In reading the repost comments, I learned that there are bodies in the walls of this church- Hmph. Maybe the bodies of those who fell from these stairs?

This black home in Tennessee was decorated by Designer Shawn Anderson in a dark moody style packed with character and drama.

The black entrance hall is lit naturally by double windowed doors and long windows. 

In the sitting room where there is bow window, a large cement ram sits in one window while an antique steamer trunk is in the middle. There’s a bit of mixed nautical theme. 

In the living room, a brick fireplace has been painted completely black. He accented the whole house in browns and beiges. Light colored seating anchor both front rooms.

In the main bdr., black-painted shutter doors span the wall behind the bed. A simple white throw covers the bed.

A built-in daybed with storage underneath sits between shelving to also function as a reading nook.

He kept the bath white with deep gray penny tile floor.

A guest bedroom was kept light with a vintage nautical theme.

A return to moody in the boys’ room with a historic Americana theme.
