Yeah, nothing too bad.
Hospital Wing says otherwise. What happened, dear? You look dreadful, and I'm not even trying to insult you by saying that.
Merlin's polka dotted brassiere, it is true. Evans is in the Hospital Wing. Are you alright?
Rita R. Skeeter + Moodboads, 2/?
"Then run along, no ones asking you to be accountable for anything."
"Fine. If you're too prideful to accept my help, then you don't deserve it. Have fun with your... whatever exactly you did to yourself to wind up like that."
Written in Ink| Rita & Charlie
I should have destroyed the letter while I still had the chance, was the first thing that ran through Charlie’s mind when she stepped into her room, saw Skeeter standing by her bed and realized that the piece of parchment she’s holding was one of the letters from her birth mother.
She wasn’t expecting anything like this to happen. She saw that their conversation in the Owlery poked the blonde’s interest, and she knew Skeeter would go to great length to get a story, but she never thought something so little as a letter - which easily could have been a simple private letter to her father or a guy she was seeing, just because she was hiding it from Rita, didn’t necessarily mean it was going to have some big scandal in it; if you didn’t hide all of your personal belongings from Rita, you were crazy, for Merlin’s sake -, would make the blonde go this far as breaking into their room.
She couldn’t move, she just stood there frozen for what seemed like hours, watching as the blonde scaned the letter over again and again and panic rose in her body like a wildfire. This was never supposed to get into anyone’s hand, nobody was supposed to know about it, let alone not Rita Skeeter, who was literally the worst possible person to get her hands on those letters. Matt would have been horrible too, it would have destroyed their carefully built trust of some sort that was between them at this point, but he would have understood the weight of these letters and he might have never spoken to her again, true, but he never would have told anyone. Same can be told about Rose. But with Rita finding it - well, with the gossip queen finding out about such a huge thing, Charlie deep down realized right away that there wouldn’t be anything to be done. It was just matter of time for this news to get out and not only the whole school, but with it the whole pureblood society to find out about it as well. And this was it, she ruined everything for not only herself but her family as well.
Damn, this was the time when she wished she could work with memory charms. She could solve this problem so easily with one of those spells. She needed to do something, and quick. When she finally managed to snap out of the shock, she rushed to Rita and snapped the parchment out of the blonde’s hands. “What the fuck are you doing here and why the fuck are you going through my stuff?”
Rita had spun around by the time Charlie's footsteps had made themselves known, but did nothing but let the paper be snatched from her hands. The blonde's expression was one of someone who's just discovered something astounding, but has yet to figure out if they're pleased or not by the discovery. Taking a few steps back, to distance herself from the undoubtedly angry girl, Rita looked her over and began rethinking everything she's every thought about Charlotte Nott.
The Ravenclaw glanced between the parchment and the girl before her. "A bit of investigative journalism-" she didn't continue that thought, as something was holding her from it. Now, Rita wasn't a supporter of purist ideals, because honestly it's all in the fine details and who could be bothered with focusing on blood purity while there was so much juicer things going on. Being 'pureblood' was just something she used to get in with the right people and into the right places, a card to be played when its assistance was needed, but ultimately not a make it or break it deal. The Notts however, and the other big hitters in the wizarding world, this was monumental. Charlotte wasn't just a half-blood, she wasn't supposed to be here. She could ruin her family, well, news of this getting out could ruin them and if not ruin then severely damage their reputation. The weight of what she'd uncovered settled in Rita's stomach, yet the ever present 'go-getter' part of her brain registered that this would get her plenty of recognition amoungst the fast paced world of wizard news.
"You're... Oh my, Charlotte, that is some secret you're hiding, isn't it?" Rita said, still torn between giving into the smugness of uncovering this and the shock of what 'this' was. "A half-blood," she said, though there was no menace in her tone, it was as if she was just repeating a phase that someone had told her, to affirm it. "I can't say I expected that," but who would, really? Who would ever know, who even knows now? Surely not too many people, does her brother? Her roommates? Her 'mother'? Oh the number of people Rita could name. Not that she would, as she isn't devoid of tact.
Still, she gave the redheaded girl before her a look that someone might give a present before it's unwrapped; full of uncertainty and a little excitement, as one can never tell if they're going to be getting a nasty sweater or a beautiful scarf.

If one ever finds themselves in a position where they need to keep quiet, everything has a way of suddenly becoming even louder. Breathing, the thumping of one's heart. Even the silence seems louder. But miss Rita Skeeter kept her resolve up as she tracked the whispering and giggling first years ahead of her. They didn't seem to be talking about anything that should ever catch her interest, and honestly listening to them was incredibly dull, but she was smarter than to tune them out. If she did, she wouldn't have caught the password. Not that she would need it, but really the password to the Slytherin commons could come in handy. Carefully, she sped up to slip into the common room with the pair of first years as her keys. Her disillusion charm was sticking quite nicely.
Now, however, was no time to applaud her admirable charm work. Now was a time to finally answer the question that had itched an angry red stripe of curiosity onto her mind. Rita needed answers, and only Charlotte Nott's letter could provide them. So, naturally she made her way towards the obvious direction of the girls dormitories, electing to ignore the other snakes slithering about.
Rita located the sixth years rooms with little difficulty and after staking the area out, and pressing her ear to the door to find any signs of would-be hosts, she carefully pushed the door open. Thank Merlin for Hogwarts keeping their doors sufficiently oiled. And for Andromeda, Lucinda, Rose, and Charlie all being out. Today really was Rita's day, wasn't it? The blonde did know better than to drop her disillusion charm at the sign of coast clear, though, but she really thinks that's just commonsense when one's running a covert operation.
Upon first sight, the room didn't look much different from other girls rooms, which Rita frowned at. This meant more sleuthing. First step; find out which area was Charlies, then she pounces. Metaphorically of course. Shooting glances back towards the door with every noise she made, Rita opened and closed trunk after trunk, shifted through some belongings, and finally deduced which area of the room had been claimed by victim of her curiosity. Rita allowed herself a smile as she began her search. Under the bed didn't prove fruitful, neither did under the pillow. The trunk was a dud. As was the space under the mattress. After thoroughly exhausting every other option, did Rita go for the bedside drawer. Of course, it was locked, only a minor inconvenience for a witch honestly. With a slight eye roll, Rita drew her wand and waved it to persuade the lock to open, having only to think the spell she'd used so many times. Alohomora held a special place in her heart. Small smile in place, the smile of one finally getting something that they've longed for, Rita pulled the drawer open.
Shifting and shuffling of papers aside, finding the letter was cake. As was opening it and unashamedly skimming over its contents. Her heart beat a little faster, a shot of adrenaline rushing up her spine, as she froze in her skimming and began the letter again to suck in every detail. And then again. What was this. What had she found this time. After examinging the contents of the letter with a keen eye and held breath, Rita came to one conclusion: this was unexpected, it was shocking, but more importantly, it was perfect. Oh how her readers would react! Oh how Evan would react! Oh how she was reacting, look at her! The surprise and scandal of it all absorbed her concentration and her disillusion charm fell. It didn't bother the 'journalist' too greatly, though. For she had hit pay dirt.
Charlotte Nott was a half-blood. Aka, Hogwarts biggest blow up aside from Rose going off Merlin knows where. And Rita would be the one to expose it. The uproar the pureblood community would bring! Not to mention it would distract from Emma's little wedding, which would only be a bonus.
"Merlin forbid you actually butt out."
"You're so much prettier when you ditch the attitude. Do I have to run and get someone? And, please, do spare the wounded warrior shite, I'm not in the mood to be held accountable for you getting yourself hurt and not fetching anyone."
"Hey, I asked you first," Marlene said with a shrug because that’s definitely the mature answer.
"Yeah, well, I asked you second," Rita was quick to reply, not taking into account how little sense that made.
Dirk only laughs; knowing Rita doesn’t lack sass even in the best of moods so it’s no surprised to be snapped at now when she’s so frustrated. “King of the Owls? You misjudge me, M’lady. I am but a humble squire at your service.” He proclaims in a posh accent before and giving a curt bow.
"Well not quite but you are in luck. You can have a bit of my lunch if you think it would help with your angry feathered friend." He says holding out a piece of food to Rita.
Even Rita, could take a moment to appreciate Dirk's laugh which almost lightened her mood. That and being called addressed as 'm'lady', but she'd never admit to that. "I honestly have no idea what to think about you sometimes, Dirk. Really, tell me what I should think of you, because I haven't the foggiest."
Very carefully, waiting for him to snatch it back, Rita reached out to take the scrap of food. "Well, thank you. I'm sure the feathery anitchrist will enjoy this more than the virgin sacrifice I'd have to track down to please it otherwise."
"Shouldn’t you be, oh I don’t know - in bed or something?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Shouldn't you?" Rita responded, turning to face the other blonde fully.
Grumbling under his breath he tried to straighten up but could only get so far before the crippling pain was back. Wincing his glare only deepened “Who would ever be dumb enough to answer one of your double edged questions?”
Rita folded her arms and didn't even bother trying to look sympathetic as she watched Matt wince. "Listen, I asked you if you're alright, not even how you got hurt, so stop being such a baby. God forbid I actually ask how someone is when they look like they're about to fall over."
Sod off Skeeter and move along!
I'm asking if you're alright, don't tell me to 'sod off'. Now I'm going to stay. So, is my question going to get an answer?
Dirk just chuckles at the interaction between Rita and the bird. He’s dealt with his own fair share of troublesome owls but he has to admit being on the other side of things and watching it happen is quite amusing. “Not that you don’t seem to have this covered but from my experience it helps if you bribe them with food. They think it taste better and we don’t get bit as much. It’s usually a win-win.”
With a good deal of humility, Rita lifts her chin up and steps back from her particularly aggressive owl. "Oh thanks, like I haven't thought of that Mister King of the Owls," she'll admit her response wasn't on par, but she was trying. Almost. It wasn't a second later that she kept on. "And... I don't really have any food to bribe him with. I wasn't expecting to have to use him instead of the school owls, but I guess they're all busy."
Now that her father was at school, Alice only had to write owls to her mother and as she walked up the steps to the top of the owlery she heard a familiar voice yelling at their owl. As she walked up a few more steps and peeked her head over to see who was in a row with their owl, it was none other than Rita Skeeter. While Alice wasn’t one to make fun of people, she knew that later on she’d mention it to her friends because the sight before her was simply just too funny. Profanities and all, Rita being unkempt and annoyed. Finally, when Rita addressed her, Alice had to hold back a laugh. ” From the castle, where else? — I’ve been here the whole time just to let you know. Would you like any help getting that note?”
Rita tried to smooth some hair back that was had landed in her face before she replied, eyes flickering between Alice and the owl. "Oh that's bloody fantastic, isn't it? Just so you don't go spreading rumors, I wouldn't really-" she was cut-off as the owl nipped her one last time before taking off to settle itself upon a higher roost. Rita didn't even bother cursing this time around. She needed help. Goddammit. Sucking up as much ego as she could, she made sure her eyes were locked onto the owl as she spoke, mumbled would be a better term. "That would be... appreciated."
Oh! Fuck wank bugger shitting arse head and hole!
Truly breathtaking vocabulary you have there, Matt. I'm sure you just made your mother cringe somewhere. Are you alright?
Rita stood in the owlrey, currently in a standoff of sorts. With her owl."Listen bird, you bite me one more time and you're getting turned into a teapot." There was an indignant hoot. "You heard me, now give me your bloody leg, or I swear-" She was nipped, yet again. "Buggering fuck- that's it, I'm getting a new owl, you're going to be nothing but potion ingredients you over-sized, feather coated-" It was as she was nursing her finger and fully frustrated with the owl in front of her, that she realized that there was someone else in the room, so she turned to address them, clearly caught off guard. "Where did you come from?"
