A Greyhound & her Magpie mate ...

Three little baby magpies were hand raised by a lovely man in Adelaide when they became orphaned. When they became adult birds, two of them flew away, but the third magpie decided to stay as part of the family. Here are a couple of lovely photos of the little bird with an ex-racing Greyhound who is also part of the family. (from the South Australian Greyhound Adoption Group)

I bought a painting - Space Walk by Steve Sanderson. He’s a Blackpool Artist and his work is emotive and quirky. I particularly liked this one because it marries my love of greyhounds and my interest in sci-fi. Now I just have to decide what sort of framing to get done.

A wee puppy from Brands Hatch Retired Greyhounds Trust called Dunrunnin. No racing for this little one, she's off to a forever-home.

The lovely lady in this portrait is Prince Albert’s beloved greyhound, Eos. He brought her over from Coburg when he married Queen Victoria, and she remained a cherished companion until her death at the ripe old age of eleven on July 31, 1844.

No fewer than three artists were approached during Eos’ time in England and asked to include her in their paintings. This particular portrait, by Sir Edwin Landseer, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 as a Christmas gift to Albert.

You can see her keeping watch over her master’s effects — Albert’s cane, gloves, and top hat. And how stunning she is against that red backdrop!
