N-No no - not unless you tell me if I like it first.
Adie had meant to visit him in the hospital ages ago, ever since the moment she’d heard he’d awoken but guilt and fear had overruled her and kept her tied down to the routine that’d consumed her life in the past year. It was almost an unwillingness that’d claimed her bones and made they feel as if weighed down with lead with every step she’d made closer to the hospital room that held the man she loved. The one who no longer remember who he was or who anyone was, the one she’d bumped into on her way in, his hands on her arms to steady her shaky legs that trembled once she realized who it was that held her. ”I-It’s not important, really. It’s okay.”Â
He held a girl in his arms, no thread of familiarity or knowledge in his eyes, the green bottles empty of all recognition. Lips curling up in a small smile he nodded, letting her go and taking a step back, searching her for something. There was - an air about her maybe, that upon further inspection he ached for, wanted to breath in but kept his distance, fear marking his bones and the sudden self-consciousness and lack of memory. "Do I -- do I know you?" He asked softly, head cocked like a small dog, almost knowing the answer before she even parted her lips to speak.Â
Yeah, its kind of gross isn’t it. How about, [fishing in her bag, she pulled free a few more things she had packed for lunch.] Almond butter, popcorn aaaannnddd pretzels with Nutella.
[putting the items on his lap, he took small nibbles of each until he was happily munching on the popcorn, grinning at her] These ones.
Well at least you’re not allergic. Go on, have at it and see.
[he takes a small scoop, tasting it before promptly making a face, practically hacking] Oh okay nope. No thanks. Nuh -uh.Â
I know that too. I mean, it’s hard not to know especially not in this small town and even though this might not be the best time to introduce you to it all; better now than later when people stop their staring and start their talking. In earnest. The name’s Olympia, by the way.Â
Did I - are we -- I'm sorry. Are we - friends?
S'nice to meet you - again?Â
Shit, sorry, too much?
No! No, just - don't remember if I like peanut butter or not?
I know.Â
And I know that too. Long time, no see.
I - oh - oh M's-sorry. I don't -- r-remember.Â
Yup. And don’t move.
Uh not…long?
But kind of long.
Yeah - okay - so I'll just -- stand here.
Exactly because the truth of the matter is, sometimes it’s better to be a space cadet than deal with what’s right in front of you.Â
Though this I can say, is not one of those times so move because you’re blocking my light.
S-Sorry -- sorry didn't mean to block your light.Â
M'Erik.Â
Only if you move. Duh.
How long do - do I have to stand here?Â
It never usually is. Most have a reason to be so space-y.
Space cadet yourself?
Don’t worry, no one else really does either. Just stand there, hold this and dont. move.
Am - Am I gonna blow up?
Not getting enough oxygen to the brain? It happens, especially to those who choose to stand around and stare off into space. It’s a disease, really.
Wouldn't be the worst thing that ever happened to me.
You seem to be doing alright at the moment. A bit of a space cadet, aren’t you?
Bit more really - s-space is kind of permanent residence right now.
Don’t what    Speak English?
K-Kind of -yeah
S-Sorry I'll move.
S-Sorry I don't --Â
