It’s been four months since the big fight, since Sam left for Stanford, and Dean hasn’t heard a word from him. Doesn’t even know if he’s still alive, and it’s killing him every day from the inside out. But one morning when he wakes up there’s a new voicemail on his phone. It’s Sam, this time for real, and he’s begging for Dean.

2. my lips that kiss your skin, my hands that cradle your soul - Sam/Dean, 4k words, E, 1/1

Dean comes way too close to being killed on what should have been a mundane, routine hunt. No angels, reapers; no supernatural interference to bring them back this time. Even after the monster is long dead, Sam can’t shake that terror, that soul-piercing horror of losing Dean again. He needs Dean to show him that they’re finally safe.

summary: With Crowley apparently dead and Sam’s soul back in place, even though Eve is a worry and Castiel’s fighting a heavenly war, Sam and Dean at last have some space to get back to what passes (for them) as a normal life. They’ve just finished up a pretty standard job and are killing time in snowy Wisconsin when Dean wakes up no longer looking like Dean. That’s just the start of their problems.

just finally finished reading this one (it had been on my TBR for a while) and oh my god. I could wax poetic about this for YEARS (and I’ve been losing my marbles in the comments section). If you haven’t read it this one is a must-read! An absolute love letter to everything the Winchesters are, wrapped up with absolutely phenomenal writing and a strong, unique, refreshing narrative voice. This fic is a masterclass on harnessing and using language and individual words themselves with the most delicate, skilled, finest, control to create deeply nuanced feeling and to tell a story. @zmediaoutlet, you have outdone the stars. This is one for the ages!! What an incredible longfic. It’s 120k but never once does it drag—each scene is as riveting and important as the last.
