The dragon hunters betray Viggo and leave him trapped, but he’s not alone. A dragon is trapped with him, and for once, harming it is the last thing on his mind.
The sound of an explosion rippled through the air, and silence instantly fell over the group of dragon hunters that stood in the cavern. Dirt and loose pebbles rained down from the ceiling, and Viggo lifted the torch in his hand to see through the dust.
What are they doing out there? he wondered, a familiar feeling of distrust settling over him as he thought of his dragon hunting co-leaders: Trader Johann and Krogan.
Another explosion interrupted the tense silence, accompanied by an ominous cracking as the large rocks above their heads threatened to fall.
“We’ve got to get out of here!”
The cry came from a panicked dragon hunter, who instantly took off toward the exit. Almost without thinking, Viggo broke into a run, the other hunters shoving to get past him.
They wouldn’t trap me down here purposely, Viggo thought, though deep within him, he knew he didn’t believe that.
He rounded a corner in the tunnel, and the exit reared up in the distance. The night sky, distorted by falling debris, seeming to be mocking him; he was too far away.
I fucking love the character that’s like. not really the villain. but definitely not a good guy I mean he’s on our side. but he’s definitely not morally upstanding.
Also, some of you don’t actually know what enemies to lovers is huh… Where is the clashing of principles? The righteous fury? The gut wrenching guilt of having unwanted affection for someone who is actively trying to destroy everything you’ve worked your entire life to build? The overwhelming anger thrown at the object of your affection to mask your anger for yourself? The reluctant truce brought about by extenuating circumstances? The begruding birth of respect? The creeping realization that you are on the wrong side? The long agonizing journey to redemption? The slow quiet blossoming of a friendship? The underlying current of a desire that has always been there but you have never been in a position to act on before? The fear that your antagonistic history carries too much baggage? The resigned acceptance that a friendship is more than you are even worthy for? A heroic display that solidifies your position as one of the good guys? The epiphany of love and a hint that it might not be so unrequited? The inevitable conclusion??
Honestly, you guys see two people on opposite sides and just skip to the lovers part….

Preview: Shadows clinging to his form, hugging onto the angles and curves of his dark armor, Viggo Grimborn descended on the stragglers.
There was no clemency.
There was no chance of reasoning.
Not slowing in stride, a quick, calculated lean to the left avoided a wildly swung axe, which sank into the earth from the attack velocity. "Oh? Really? Was that all?" Viggo switched his grip with one whirl of his wrist, thrusting his sword back, hearing the clogged gag as his blade plunged into his opponent's spine. "Disappointing." In two fluid motions, Viggo sliced his blade across the soft flesh of the first's neck, and ran his blade through the second, twisting for good measure. With the aid of his boot, he removed his weapon from his enemy's midsection.
Only numb silence reigned as the last opponent fell, spasming briefly before falling still.
The rage radiating from Viggo was so hot, the freezing night air burned against his skin. He slowly knelt near the unmoving girl. Her pulse fluttered like a dying butterfly at his fingertips.
I thought people might appreciate this!! I made a purchase… The Toothless statue from Sideshow Collectibles that came out a few years back! He’s sold out and I’ve been on the hunt for YEARS and finally got a good deal! He is the crown jewel of my collection!
He’s a big honkin’ beast (see kitty for scale) The details are impeccable and he looks like he was plucked straight out of the movie. One day I’ll have to set up a good little area to take pictures of my collection of nonsense in high quality. But yay, my baby boy!
So the only reasonable way I saw fit to calm my feelings about this movie was a simple solution. DRAW ALL THE DRAGONS. Guys go see HTTYD 2, hands down it was probably the best animated film I’ve seen in a while.
Rating: T. (maybe not, but my mindset was not the cleanest when writing this)
Characters/Pairings: Hiccup + Astrid
Notes: I know he grows a beard, but let me HAVE THIS
Their mirror was broken, jagged pieces of reflective material sitting in the large, valiantly scrubbed basin. The two large pieces of polished metal that were still fitted on the frame were coated in grime and some other choice stains--Gods only knew what they were. It was awkward to try and get a good angle to look at anything in the remnants of the mirror, let alone shave. But Hiccup had a certain amount of free time and nearly everyone was absent from the outpost. Tasks had been divided accordingly, and construction on the Edge was nearly complete.
Astrid allowed herself to relax somewhat and close her eyes, exhaling slowly and running the coarse edge of her whetstone across the bladed arc of her battleaxe. She found this task far more soothing than she wanted to admit, next to hurling it at a target dummy. Sharpening her weapon to razor-like quality must have been what knitting felt like to some.
All of a sudden, there was a clang of metal and a sharp intake of breath that alerted every one of her senses. She rounded the corner quickly, weapon raised to the nonexistent threat.
Hiccup’s mouth was half-obscured by his hand, fingers pressing against a shallow slice of skin where blood was seeping down his cheek. Astrid winced in his stead, lowering her axe.
“That’s… gonna leave a mark.” He complained, moving his fingers to rub at the irritating cut.
“Here,” setting the weapon down on the table next to him she knelt down to pick the iron razor back up. “You can’t see anything in that, right?” Her gaze tilted back to the remains of the mirror. His soft eyes followed her down then back up as she moved to stand in front of him.
“I could see well enough.” there was a hint of stubbornness in his tone and her lip pulled up into a thin smile, like a parent smiling at a child who refused to admit his scraped knee was worse than it looked.
Using the end of her sleeve she wiped the fine line of blood off the edge. “Tilt your head up.” A stern command that made his brow arch. After a moment of watching her, he obliged, looking up at the rafters.
A sudden rush of warmth raked across his skin as she lightly held his chin with her left hand. She dragged the razor blade up, catching stubble as it came down. Astrid executed the motion again before reaching back to flick the metal underneath the water surface. After a few more strokes, she moved his head for a better angle, thankfully without any fuss.
“You know, you could also grow it out.” The blade moved along his neck, smoothly delivering a close, skillful shave.
“Hm?.” Her smirk grew before returning to her task. “I don’t know. It’d probably just get in the way when I eat or, with my luck, catch fire. Ha.” She looked up as she heard a vague chuckle. “Wouldn’t it… tickle?”
“Tickle what, exactly?”
The briefest pause, along with a hitched breath sent the gears in his head turning. “Uh, well, you?” He answered bluntly, only feeling a fleeting terror that the tip of the knife might penetrate his trachea. An amused smirk crossed her expression as her fingers brushed across the one side of his face she had managed to shave, before turning it to the other side.
“I might be into it.” Shrugging, “Try me.” She caught him watching with a bewildered expression. There was a long pause as he allowed her to finish, place the razor blade back on the table, and collect her weapon.
Notes: she’s beauty she’s grace.... she’ll punch you fall flat on her face.
“Aquaria, my dear, take your hood off, it’s the middle of summer.” Viggo carefully selected a grape from the bunch and popped it into his mouth. The look of shock on the girl’s face, as she pulled off her hood and mask, was priceless.
“How did you know it was me--?”
Pivoting, the dark haired male sauntered toward her, a smirk adorning his features. “Please.” He lilted, feigning offense and clapping her on the shoulder, “I’d recognize your terrible posture anywhere.” Aquaria dropped her jaw in a silent gasp, “Stop slouching, Aqua, it’s unbecoming.”
Successfully goaded into straightening out her shoulders and spine, the girl scoffed, unsure how to respond. Getting roasted by her boss wasn’t exactly the impression she wanted to display during their business venture, but it was a reminder to improve.
“Now I trust you’ve a good reason for dropping by.” He had assigned her plenty of work, and figured this wasn’t a social visit.
“Screaming Death.” The dragon variety, he assumed. “The Whispering Death mutation. A few scouts reported having to flee because they discovered a nest. The prize is their eyes. Perfectly crimson. A delicacy in some places.” She didn’t need to recant too much of its info, given that he likely knew more than her.
Viggo’s relaxed pose didn’t shift an inch, but a small flick of his eyebrow belied his interest. The arrogant smirk stretched across anyone else’s face would have flooded him with an urge to swiftly remove it. Aqua, at the very least, tended to wear it well. “And you want this dragon. We have a buyer?”
“No, you want this dragon. Only one is born every hundred or so years, If you advertised it for the upcoming… event, you wouldn’t have just one buyer, you’d have dozens, probably more.” Aside from solidification of reputation, the amount of revenue it could potentially generate would be astounding. “If I’m right--” she usually was “--they won’t abandon that location for a good month.”
He couldn’t deny the validity of her proposal. An elusive prize that had never been truly cataloged before in the history of dragon hunting would rake in both prestige and gold for his tribe. Expensive dragons could be procured in bulk or pilfered from the underground circuits that auctioned off dragon eggs. But Viggo Grimborn didn’t want what other vikings could simply have.
“And you think you can hunt it.” Bringing the question of her ability into play was one way to rile her up.
“I can take it down. You know I can. All you have to do is ask.” She couldn’t keep from taking an eager step forward, and he thought to warn her of reigning in her brashness. The silence between them stretched, until Viggo’s attention fell to the maps neatly stacked on his wooden desk. His fingers idly flattening out the edge of curled parchment. And she assumed the dragon hunter chief was going to dismiss her from his presence.
“I expect your return by the week’s end.” Aquaria visibly inflated, bowing, though she was vibrating with excitement. “Oh, and Aqua--” She had risen and was already sliding her foot back to leave.
“Chief?” Had he changed his mind? Was he going to shoot down the idea and retask her to something he deemed more important? He was just... looking at her.
"Don't die." Simple enough. Her expression went blank, sensing genuine sincerity behind the stern command.
"Of course."
"I have your word?" The girl was almost reduced to stammering as she took a step back.
“Y-” She was accustomed to the knowledge that Viggo had some other motivation for his inquiries and actions, “Yes, you have it.” Executing another little bow before pivoting and trying to exit the tent before he could say anything else, she’d answered so quickly, “I’ll take extra precaution…” Tacking on an afterthought…
A horrendous THUD reverberated, rattling the tent foundation so harshly, Viggo wouldn’t have been surprised if the whole structure collapsed in a maelstrom of flapping cloth and wood.
He flinched back, face twisting into a sympathetic grimace as he watched Aqua smack her forehead into one of the poles pitched near the tent entrance. The man could not press down the laugh bubbling in his throat, poorly disguised as a cough.
“S-s... “ Staring up at the ceiling from the sheer force of the collision, Aqua braced her skull, feeling the bump form under her hand from the rebound, “Starting… right now.”
