GUYS GUYS concept art for my new game?? (yes I can code)
So bascially for a roulette thingy I got 2d isometric exploration game in digital world, and I'm having an idea for this game based on a dream of mine.
(non essential parts)…Then suddenly we were exploring the continent, moving right until we came across the golden kingdom. The buildings were beautiful, but they were mostly abandoned. We looked to the right, and there was nothing but ocean. Until… In the sky, a giant castle rested on a floating island. (this is such a crk inspired dream)
It wasn’t there before. We devised countless ways and finally flew up. Above the island was a cold, snowy landscape, rested in the eternal darkness. It was a bustling town, and a huge castle rested in the verte. Industrial pipes flowed everywhere, and the buildings were mostly a shade of black and gray, the only colors being the shops and the things those shops contained. It was cozy yet depressing up here. I looked forward across the castle, yearning to see even more of the vast world where we lived.
The dream was very much an urge to know what's beyond the ocean, or whether there is something even beyond the castle.
The world is like a minimap. Once you move too far away from something it disappears. What's why you don't see the mountains. the world above is heavily organized. they regularly send troops down(you have to be selected. I infiltrated their ranks somehow). They have these metal ropes that stretch all the way down like space elevators in movies. they form rows of 20ish people and you basically whoosh down and there they scavenge for stuff. I'm not sure why they live where they live because the continent is safe. abandoned. no monster, no disease. The upper world has no sunlight. It's just dark and snowy. Russian vibe. very dystopian. Most houses are boarded up and dark so I don't even know if people live in it. The markets are the only place with light and warmth.
The world is fading. I must come from somewhere. Let's say the very left side of the world is a pretty forest. lovely neighborhoods. elves maybe. I decided to explore. the middle part is deserted. No houses, just marshlands and endless forests/jungles. I don't show that in the game. Later I came across multiple dead civilizations on the east coast. I suspect something had happened. Something did happen in the east part but no one knows what. We are just lucky enough to not have been touched by this fading.
These people are the holding the line. You see the naivety of the world of the west. There were some people left in the golden kingdom but they were mad. I never understand why the Fading happens. Perhaps I can't even talk to the people above because we don't speak the same language. I am just an observer. Sometimes mirages happen. I see memories of people alive. The story ends when I get high enough, near the castle. I suddenly see snowy mountains in the distance and I wonder if that's yet another mirage, a continent already succumbed to Fading.
The player is left wondering what's real and whether they have come too late. when the Fading started happening. we never know if there's something even beyond the mountains. and the people in the sky don't even care about me, a foreigner in their premises.
