“Ahah, were you worried for me? I’m really touched, Tanuma! Have no fear, there’s no way a car would run over me with no one around!” Nanashi strikes a dynamic pose though for Tanuma’s sake, he does move to the sidewalk instead with a following comment that it’s better to be safe than sorry! Afterwards, he begins their combined trek down the seemingly abandoned streets and eventually, after enough walking, Nanashi sees something he hasn’t seen in what seems like forever.

Nanashi comes to an abrupt halt on his heels, teetering forward then backward before he regains his balance. His bright eyes snap to Tanuma and he asks if it’s alright for the two of them to go into the school building. It’s a bit of a strange place to choose to go when anywhere can be your destination, but a large part of the fourteen year old has wanted to go back. Before coming to Iunctum however, he never really could go back – but maybe now is his chance! “Though, it’s a little weird going to school at a time like this huh?”

“We can go somewhere else if you want!”

As long as Tanuma is happy, then Nanashi can be happy too! It’s really as easy and as simple as that for him. He’s all smiles too, lightly rocking back and forth on his heels even if he’s already a little winded from walking around. He can still go traveling for awhile if he sets his mind to it, of course! He may be a reclusive shut-in but if he sets out to paint the town red with his fiance and new friend, then he’ll do just that until they’re done! “As long as you’ll be happy, I’ll do literally anything!”

Still a bit embarrassed at the earlier events, Tanuma follows Nanashi closely behind back onto the sidewalk before matching his pace so they're side by side. Truth be told, he doesn't actually see anything that particularly interests him; it's just like a normal city here minus all the people. Well, that's fine, he thinks to himself. So long as if Nanashi finds something amusing for him it'll be fine for someone like Tanuma to tag along--it always seems like he finds himself on a strange adventure whenever he tries to be around anyone.

His thoughts bring him back to the memory of Natsume and all the things he's experienced with him for a brief moment, but those vanish as Nanashi stops and gains the other's attention. Looking forward, the brunet takes note of the school and glances back towards his fiance with a pensive expression.

"Oh, that's fine. I don't mind at all!" Though he asks why Nanashi wants to go back to school when no one's around, Tanuma doesn't particularly care especially if there's no one around. He wonders aloud, at least, if the building will even be open when there isn't a single person to keep it open, but he smiles at the younger and leads him onto the school grounds. "This is what you want, right? We can do one of my suggestions later, so it's no big deal."

As they head towards the entrance, Tanuma looks around the abandoned area nearby, wondering how full it would be with more people present. Stopping right at the door, he places a hand on the handle and pulls to see if it's open. "Ah--It looks like we can go in." Tanuma looks back towards Nanashi once more. "Do you want to take a look?"

“O-Outside?” He’s slowly getting used to it, going out but after months of being a shut-in and nothing else, spending leisurely days watching television or playing video games on top of sleeping and eating, well, going out is his most daunting task! Even so, Nanashi doesn’t want to let his new fiance down and he recalls that he shouldn’t shy away from situations that are new to him either, what would everyone else think? So, Nanashi puts on a determined face and gives an affirmative nod towards Tanuma, taking his hand next and using his second arm to pump into the air like he’s seen so many times during his shows. 

“Let’s go! Let’s go! – We can’t steal, that would be bad, even if there’s no police around we’d be crushed by our guilty conscious!”

A sudden idea hits him and Nanashi suddenly exclaims, turning on his heel and back towards his taller spouse-to-be. “I know!” Nanashi, ever zealous, starts to excitedly lead Tanuma out of his apartment, explaining all the while what his plan pertains. “I’m not good at going outside but if it’s with someone, I’ll be okay! Ahaha, so I thought as long as I’m with you we can go anywhere! Sooo, let’s just walk around and see what we find!” Nanashi is practically sparkling the further he explains, laughing as he takes Tanuma out on the town in the most literal sense!

Once they’ve reached the end of the neighborhood and the streets of the usually busy city, Nanashi slowly lets go of Tanuma and hops over to right in the middle of the street. He begins to jump up and down, waving his arms at Tauma to join him quickly. “Tanuuumaaa! Come on! We can walk right in the street since no one’s around!”

As he listens to his somewhat eccentric spouse, Tanuma wonders if Nanashi will be okay, even voicing his concerns to the younger. "Are you sure it's fine? If you don't like to be out here--" But he stops himself short when he notices the other's excitement. Well, it seems like Nanashi is already having fun and as long as if Tanuma's around, it should be okay for the for the most part like the younger says. 

Tanuma never knew anyone so... odd and energetic before. Of course, he had a couple of outgoing, goofball friends in school back at his original home, but never anyone like Nanashi--not that he minds in the slightest! In fact, he think it'll be fun to be around the smaller male for a change of pace. He nods and follows Nanashi wherever he leads them, smiling in amusement at the other's joy at being out here. Tanuma thinks it really wasn't a bad idea to walk around after all, that is, until he watches Nanashi jump right into the street and his protective instincts kick right in.

"W-wah! Nanashi, be careful!" Tanuma reaches out to his fiance before moving by his side right after. It's not long before he remembers that there isn't anyone else around in the city (that he knows of) so there wouldn't be any cars or crowds of people bumping into them. Whether Nanashi minds or not, a wave of embarrassment rushes through the brunet at his sudden outburst and he can't help but look away with a light, nervous laugh. "Sorry, it looks like I'm not used to there not being any cars or anything like that on the street."

Learning these things, he blinks as he continues to keep his eyes on what’s being introduced to him. They’re flightless which seems like a shame, they can’t learn the freedom of the sky but maybe the depths of the water isn’t any different. He turns back to Tanuma with a confused expression on his face as he laughs is it at him or with him though, Yamato has nothing to laugh about! “Interesting, huh?” As he speaks softly to see where the other is getting at, a smile appears on his own features.

He claps his hands together like a child who’s ecstatic about the whole ordeal he’s finding himself in, "Back home, it’s upsetting to find a baby bird on the ground since you’d hope it could fly right? I never knew there were birds who didn’t need flight to still have an alright life, maybe I’ve underestimated the species for far too long." His interests do show for such little things as he keeps eyeing the animals and how they have fun, their colors almost hypnotizing and he hears a child behind him who is in such awe. He turns his head in order to see the delights that’s strung upon the child’ts face, what a good sight to see!

His knowledge isn’t that far and wide considering when he was crafted, looking around to the various areas that has animals placed behind bars, glass and so on. "Hmmm.." Processing the sight of what animals he could name off the back of his hand with ease, there are various ones that he knows and other’s which are new to him. Raising a hand so that he points to a sign that depicts a lion, “That one, reminds me of Shishio.”

Being referred to as mostly clueless, "Hey, don’t say it like that!" Though he’s not truly offended, though he throws his hands up as if he’s been found guilty. "I knew almost as much as Okita-kun, many years have passed by though.. There aren’t many things I understand at all so you’ll have to forgive me, I hope this doesn’t burden you."

"Huh? Uwah--I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that!" Tanuma takes a step back and holds his hands up in defense. In hindsight, he should've been more careful with his words; after all, it's not like he and Yamato are entirely familiar as they've only recently met, he'd hate it if he overstepped boundaries so easily like that. But still, sensing his father's gentleness in his words, Tanuma relaxes again and scratches the back of his neck sort of sheepishly. "Er, then I suppose a better phrasing would be to just say that you're unfamiliar with some things, yeah?" Trying to patch things up, Tanuma laughs lightly, however as Yamato continues to speak, what the other says doesn't quite register until a little bit after and only then does he finally react.

"Haha, yeah, Okita right? Like Okita Souji? Well, I guess that makes sense--wait, WHAT?!"

"O-Okita Souji of the Shinsengumi... you were there?" Who the heck even is Yamato, honestly!! Unless this new place has some sort of power that allows everyone to see them, there's no way this person before him can be a youkai--but is he even a person? "Uh, it's-it's no problem at all, I can reassure you! I had no idea that you came from such a long time ago... But it does explain a lot, I think..." It's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just that it's a lot to take in for someone like Tanuma. He hopes that Yamato can understand his confusion about it all; the closes things he's ever gotten to... that old are youkai, but even then he's seen only a couple for himself (not even with his own eyes!).

"But if that's the case, I have no problem with helping you navigate around this modern age." After the initial surprise passed, Tanuma smiles again, glad that he can at least be useful to his new family. If he recalls correctly, it appeared as though Yamato and Horikawa knew each other prior as well, so perhaps he'll be able to help his other father too! At the thought, the boy's face lights up but upon realizing so, he dims down in embarrassment. "Would you like to see other things now?"

His time is spent with his newly assigned son in which he has no qualms at all, his index finger hooks onto the scarf around his neck as he glances forward at a pointed digit, the other really seems to appreciate this animal life! He notices ‘ooh’s and ‘ahh’s that leave from various people’s mouth as they are fascinated by what they see  but he does give his attention to his son to look at the animal’s who’s wings flap against the ice and into the water with a splash.

"Aaah.. !!" He says in fascination himself, the younger’s laugh is enough for Yamato to know that Tanuma enjoys this. The way people are and what they live to enjoy is a concept that he looks at from time to time or maybe it’s because of the change of pace and it’s something he can’t help. Upon his inquiry, "Huh, I don’t know..  you like them right? Because you sounded happy when you laughed." He watches as some of the baby penguins waddle in a fashion as they’re looking for their parents, following into the blue abyss as well.

"I never knew they existed until right now," He smiles as he looks at the other, "Do you think they’d give us a closer look, I want to see if they have just as sparkly eyes like horses." As that comes to mind, he blinks just a bit, “Oh I just noticed, the people attending here must be nice to let them leave here any time? That’s why they have this sky view, correct?” He asks, hand pointing above them where the sunlight shines down. Little does he know..

"Is that so...?" He asks his father, wondering what kind of world he must have come from if he's never heard of penguins before? After all, they did get a pretty big movement back in the day along with the polar bears about the environment--everyone was in such an uproar about it! But perhaps Yamato was a secluded person, that wouldn't surprise him too much. "Haha, well, the thing is, penguins can't actually fly." Tanuma smiles and laughs at Yamato's inquiry, finding the thought of penguins planning some sort of escape to be amusing. "Although they are birds, they're flightless."

"I don't know why that is. I bet it's because they're mostly accustomed to swimming, so they don't need to fly!" That's just his guess, really. Hopefully Yamato doesn't take his son's word for fact because he's actually quite unsure of his answer now that he thinks about it. "But they are interesting creatures aren't they?" For a moment, Tanuma glances towards the birds as they continue to slip and slide along the ice, some even diving into the water again and again, seemingly lost in thought. He's suddenly reminded of a previous comment that his father said earlier which brings up another thought--

"Hey, father, do you recognize any other animal here or are you mostly clueless?" Yamato did mention something about horses, and Tanuma knows that there are horse pens around here somewhere, but he really wants to show Yamato things he might not recognize like these penguins. Perhaps it'll be a good learning experience for the two of them!

"Eh? Okay! I won’t do that anymore!" Nanashi is all smiles and nods fervently before he rocks on his heels, listening in silence to whatever else Tanuma wants to say. He blinks in surprise at his fiance’s words, a flustered blush creeping onto his cheeks. He is, obviously, not used to hearing things like that, at least he hasn’t heard anything like that in well over four months. The fourteen year old fiddles with the ends of his sleeves before he pipes up, laughing a bit nervously but still happily! How can he not be happy when he received such sweet words?

"You really think so?" 

He still flounders a bit, waving his hands and commenting that Tanuma must be the kinder one between them when he has such nice things to say!  Nanashi is still embarrassed but heads over when motioned to, sitting opposite of his fiance and sighing with relief that he can sit down and relax a bit. His pink eyes end up snapping back to meet Tanuma’s however, having been accepted as a friend — Nanashi smiles even brighter than before. "Really?! I’m so happy! I don’t know if I can add you to my bitphone’s friend list but we’re still friends in name , ahaha, that’s good enough for me! What do friends usually do? Oh! I know how about we go get tea or maybe ice cream? Or we can play games! Though I’m not good at physical stuff, we can do anything you want! Whah do you want to do first?”

With a light smile, he nods and can't help but wonder if Nanashi is rarely ever complimented like that. Well, Tanuma can hardly call his words anything special as it's pretty normal to say such things, but Nanashi if isn't always exposed to them then it's the least the brunet can do for his spouse. He knows what it's like to be on the negative end of things; perhaps not to the same degree as Nanashi seems to be, but Tanuma can at least empathize with the boy.

"Do you want to go outside?" There's no one there, so it'll most likely be a peaceful day for them to wander around the town. Besides, it'll be much more easier to get accustomed to the ways of the city and learn locations well. "We can walk around and get some food if you'd like! There isn't a whole lot available in this house just yet." Tanuma laughs sheepishly about it, almost embarrassed that he can't provide any food or drink for his fiance that bothered to travel all the way to meet him.

He stands from his seat and asks if Nanashi is ready to go. Once confirmed, he leads his fiance out the door and onto the sidewalk where they begin their new adventure. Although, they don't make it too far before Tanuma stops and speaks up in surprise.

"Oh!"

"I totally forgot, I don't have any money... Haha, I'd feel bad if we just took stuff when no one's around, you know?"

It makes Tanuma a little sad that he's been pulled away from his friends as well as leaving his father behind. Well, actually, it makes him really sad at the fact he may not ever see any of them again, however he tries not to show it, particularly around his newly assigned family. They both seem like nice people (although appear to barely be older than he is), so he likes them enough, but can't help but feel this homesickness that won't go away no matter what.

But, in any case, it's not something Tanuma should worry about for too long, especially out with one of his assigned fathers--Yamato, he believes is his name--at the local zoo, surrounded by all these exotic creatures in their artificial habitats. 

"Hahaha, would you look at that!" He points out the flightless birds sliding down their ice slopes and into the freezing water with a laugh. "Hey, father, do you like penguins?"

"Yes and you can call me anything you like! People at school used to call me pest, maggot, spineless, things like that! Mikado just calls me Nanashi, so take your pick!" Nanashi smiled afterwards, clearly not minding being called a single on of those names. It’s just his way, really and he doesn’t want to trouble Tanuma by having him remember a long name like Nanase or something.

Speaking of which, Nanashi moves to peek out the window, glancing around outside to find not a soul in sight. He purses his lips before sliding back and turning on his heel towards Tanuma, he can’t really tell what’s going on except that it reminds him of some of the video games or tv shows that he’s seen. He laughs and comments that it’s almost like they’re in a post-apocalyptic society or something! But then that thought leads him to another and he can’t help but apologize for Tanuma’s bad luck at being stuck with Nanashi of all people, he’d be better off with literally anyone else!

"Well, since it’s just the two of us here," He pauses and then smiles again, as he always seems to do. "Would you like to be friends?"

Wait a minute--what?! 

Hearing those kinds of names that this poor child has been called before causes Tanuma to take a step back and place a hand on his chest near his heart. Sure, he's been called some pretty odd things in the past as well, but to see Nanashi be so... nonchalant about it; it's rather disconcerting. Just how common was this in this boy's life?!

"Ah, that's horrible!" Tanuma can't help but comment. "But, ok.. Nanashi, then. Could you do me a favor and not introduce yourself with your nicknames anymore?" He doesn't know if he's crossing any boundaries with this on their first meeting, but if Nanashi is going to introduce himself that way, then there's someone bound to actually refer to him as something as terrible as maggot or pest!

After that odd first impression, Tanuma goes to sit at the table, watching Nanashi walk around the room rather cheerfully. When he hears the comment about some post-apocalyptic world, he can't help but laugh as well having thought similarly, however his face drops at the following statement, wondering what would ever posses his spouse to think like that. It really does make him sad to see someone talk badly about themselves so easily.

"I don't think being with you is a bad thing, after all, we've only known each other for a few minutes right? You already seem like a pleasant person, I think." He smiles, motioning for Nanashi to come closer. "I'd love to be friends with you. Would you like to do something together?"

Nanashi was confused, lost, (naked) and afraid.  Only a little!

While he didn’t understand everything that was going on, exactly, he knew that he had parents and a fiance, apparently! It was a bit jarring, he had never even dated or held hands with anyone before! So to have a fiance threw him for a loop, but he was curious about what kind of person he was engaged to.

As he found his fiance’s apartment, he realized that on the way — no one else was around? He wondered if they were just avoiding a useless student who abandoned all his responsibilities like him. It wouldn’t be the first time! He laughed at the thought, hands in his pockets before he gave a knock-knock to the apartment door. Nanashi hesitated, his knocks sounding a bit awkward and thus, his disposition was awkward as he shuffled from one foot to the other.

"Ah, um! Hello? Hellooooo?"

"This is where Kaname Tanuma lives right? I did get the right apartment, didn’t I? Ka• na• me Ta• nu•  ma! Please come out! It’s me! Oh, you don’t know my name yet, haha! It’s Yoshi Nanase!"

Tanuma has been accustomed to being alone for a long time; way before he ever truly befriended anyone from his school. However, at the very least, back then there were people actually around--he was able to see and hear others as they passed by him on the streets or in stores and the like. Now, there's... no one here and he ended up staying in the comfort of his new home, unsure of where exactly the rest of his assigned family is.

To some degree, he enjoys the quiet, finding it rather peaceful until the silence begins to really creep him out, even more so when he hears a sudden knock and begins to feel like some character in a horror movie! Reluctant to go, Tanuma stares at the door for a while, wondering who it could be before he hears a voice behind it. Luckily for him, the other manages to identify himself to which he picks himself up from the ground and slowly opens the door, peeking out the crack to see a young boy until he ultimately opens it wide.

"Y-yo...shi...?" Tanuma is able to see this person so it's unlikely that he's a youkai. He quickly looks around the area around them, noting that there's still no one around aside for them both and motions for his fiance to enter inside.

"You're who I'm engaged to right? Do you know what's going on here?"
