These cups are part of an exhibit called âwhere have you beenâ. There are more than 8,000 cups placed out to memorialize the genocide that occurred in Srebrenica. This is to symbolize the loved ones who they are still pouring their cup of coffee for today. Coffee is so important in our culture, you will go to familyâs house and have coffee no matter the time, no matter how many cups youâve already had. One would give anything to have one more coffee with someone they love.
Two Women Teaching a Child to walk by Rembrandt.
Circa 1640, sketch
British Museum, London
Thereâs a drawing by Rembrandt, I think itâs the greatest drawing ever done. Itâs in the British Museum and itâs of a family teaching a child to walk, so itâs a universal thing, everybody has experienced this or seen it happen. Everybody. I used to print out Rembrandt drawings big and give them to people and say: âIf you find a better drawing send it to me. But if you find a better one it will be by Goya or Michelangelo perhaps.â But I donât think there is one actually. Itâs a magnificent drawing, magnificent.
