All Early Decision Applications are due by November 23, 2015 5:00pm EST. Applications should be submitted via email to  [email protected] or dropped off inside of the lower level of Carnegie. Our Howard University ASB leaders participated in a Know Your Rights Training Session this week. Students were able to leave more knowledgable about their rights as a citizen and how to avoid potentially harmful confrontations with law enforcement.

If you're having trouble with the Interest Statement: Try not to get caught up in the word minimum. Instead, write from your heart about your life experiences and how they have created a desire to serve or how your career dreams or life goals correlate to serving in the site you'd like to go to.

FYI: The ASB Early Decision recommendation is a FORM, not a letter or essay and any teacher/advisor/administrator can easily fill it out.

1. What is the deadline?

Standard Application period will run from December 2nd to January 30. 

2. Where is the application for Team Leaders?

We are no longer accepting applications for Team Leaders.

3. Am I not supposed to put my name on the interest form?

You are not supposed to put your name on your essay to ensure fairness.

4. Are there places on campus where I can scan my documents onto my computer?

You can scan documents in the Ilab.

5. Is there an option for me to submit my application in person?

We only accept applications in-person for very special cases.

6. What is the main difference between the Early decision applications & the Standard Application?

Early Decision simply means you get assigned earlier and you have the opportunity to be a team leader. However, the Early Decision period is over.

7. Where is the separate application for Haiti?

Talk to the Dean of your school to find out about the application process. ASB is not privy to details about the Haiti site.

8. It says to print, scan, and upload the recommendation form --- however the form is located within a google doc already; so can it not just be filled out there and then uploaded upon completion?

You must print the form, then scan and upload it after your recommender fills out the form. However, if your instructor or whoever fills out the form for you, puts it in an envelope and seals it, you must bring it to the lower level of Carnegie and submit it to Mr. Glen Vinson. We have no way of knowing if professors (not applicants) filled out the form on google docs.

9. What should I write down in the fourth blank [location of site] on the Event Participation Release Agreement?

Please leave that blank

10. For freshman, are the recommendation forms supposed to be filled out by professors from Howard or by old teachers from high school?

Freshman applicants can ask current professors to fill out the form. It is the easiest option. However, if you cannot find a Howard professor to fill it out, feel free to ask a high school teacher.
