Personal blog, for those interested.
Hello all,
This blog is very old and no longer active. Sadly, Hubert passed on years ago from scurvy. However, I do have several other pets now which are sometimes featured on my personal blog journey-forth.
I will likely leave this blog up for sentimental purposes, but it won’t be active. Feel free to follow my personal for new content.
Thanks guys❤️

In response to the fruit flies: i also live in the south and have had fruit fly issues in the past with my girls. i try my best to remove any left over fruits/veg that haven't been eaten with the evening snack by the next morning. i am also careful about what i keep out on the counters/pantry like bananas or onions. i didn't use any sprays because i wouldn't want my girls to consume any residue afterwards.
Yes that's the same reason I've never used any sprays around Hubert. Guinea pigs have sensitive respiratory systems and I didn't want to risk it. I think some old onions I had out were part of the problem, because the number of flies has decreased this I got rid of them. I'll still be using apple cider vinegar and sticky traps until they're completely gone, though!
Ew yuck, i have fruit flies and they never seem to disappear from my girls' cages. I'd suggest wiping your piggy's cage clean once more just to make sure thats not the source and then setting out traps rather than repellants- i'm not sure if those sticky ones for moths work for fruit flies but i hear a bowl of apple cider vinegar and dish soap mixed together works well.
It is very gross😣. Thank you for your suggestions. Sugar water didn't seem to do much by way of killing them, but I'll definitely try the mixture you suggested. I'm also going to put up lots of that sticky fly tape :)
Behold, the wild cavy-beast, who only emerges to eat and eye the world with intense skepticism. Side note: hoping to switch Hubert to fleece bedding soon!
