Came across this art installation, Liza Lou's Kitchen, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. It's a kitchen made of tiny glass beads, that artist Liza Lou did, taking 5 yrs. to complete, from 1991 - 1996.

My favorite part is the sink.

I was amused by this rather “freaky” bit of Edwardiana, especially since I always got the feeling that Charles Dana Gibson, when drawing the Gibson Girl, was at least partially fantasizing about being stepped on or something.

I know this is from Australia but when I first saw the words “Victorian man” all I could think of was this:

To be fair imagine you just arrived in 2018 from Victorian England and discovered Take On Me, what are you supposed to do, not blast it loud enough for your family to hear it all the way back in 1876?

I'm starting to find white hairs on my head

A perfectly normal occurrence of course. I'm getting older. And getting older is a privilege that many do not get.

My dad didn't get to. He was 42 when we lost him, and i don't recall any salt and pepper at his temples. No grey in his beard.

In eight short years I'll have outlived him entirely. I'll have more white in my hair than he ever did.

But I've been plucking the hairs out. There's something unbearable to me about the idea that i am growing old without my father.
