Audience note from test screening of VIDEODROME, 1983
This person hated videodrome so much they forgot their gender
I don't think there's a point in debating the sexuality of any ffxiv character because they are ludicrously chaste. Like ffxiv characters do not fuck
Reblogging this manually. Op doesn't want credit for fear of being terminated.

There is no joy in her song. She sings it like a dirge. This is her death march. The sauce is her blood. It won't be long now...
things used to be $5
did you want to talk to her? did you want to talk to nikki?
this is a sign, go see obsession

Been noticing we've been speedrunning the Obsession Discourse so I would like to remind everyone of the Schedule
Dawg....
So so so so so so so so much ❤️
Not exaggerating but Obsession was the scariest film ive ever fucking seen
No, really man. Its brilliant. The premise is so simple, so predictable that when the One Wish Willow is snapped you think "well, I know how a story like this goes". And then it doesn't. Spoilers below
One of the things about Obsession is that it's not an entirely new premise. The "wish/spell/potion to love you gone wrong" has existed to hundreds of years. We also have a huge library of "crazed lover" films: Single White Female, Fatal Attraction, Play Misty for Me, Basic Instinct. So we have a library full to bursting with love gone wrong tropes to pull from.
And despite us knowing all that, Curry Barker manages to shock us by zagging around all of it and a lot of that is because of the performance of a lifetime from our "antagonist" Inde Navarette.
Nikki (or what used to be her) doesn't move like the "yandere archetype". We all know what they do; they scheme behind their love's back, take out their friends and enemies alike, remake themselves to be the perfect partner for the love of their life.
The One Wish Willow Nikki is a screaming, clawing creature that is created and commanded to love. She pretends to be the Hallmark version of a lover for a few weeks, but deep cracks form when she realizes that the person she is commanded to "love more than anyone in the world" doesn't love her "more than anyone in the world" back. And this is pure agony for her.
From there on her actions stop being predictable. Every scene is strained to its breaking point with tension, where you don't know what she's going to do. She'll do whatever it takes to make the protagonist stay with her and love her, but she doesn't comprehend what love is, only that it is pure torture to live without it. So instead her actions are completely erratic, sometimes violent or sexual, always disturbing. She has no boundaries and understands no boundaries.
In a genre this saturated the best way to elicit scares is to be completely unknowable, and Inde does that perfectly. Some of the best scares are literally just Inde moving, her performance comparable to Isabelle Adjani in Posession. The moment that made me and half the theater jump up and yell "NO" isn't some kill or violent act: its her moving in a way, in a place nobody expected her to be. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
There is a LOT more to say about this movie, I haven't even touched our extremely morally murky protagonist Bear and the very obvious themes of consent and agency; or the "twist" that is less of a big reveal but a slow, sinking feeling like quicksand that confirms all of the audience's worst fears. BUT I just wanted to highlight Inde Navarette's absolutely astounding performance.
I hope you all have a good night, or a really nice date!

looking for positives and at least if we lose i don't have to watch v*gas
sure but okay listen ik it's not necessarily what ppl want to hear rn but I'm gonna put on my serious goggles for a second
1) i get that people feel like it's over but it's not. 5 days til june and the habs are still playing playoff hockey. that's a beautiful thing and I'm going to enjoy it.
2) to start consistently winning in the nhl you have to lose. you just gotta. the positive is so many of our young players have gone through two really close series in the first two rounds and come out on the winning side, and they're going through an even harder series now. this year was demi's first full season in the nhl. it was lane and doby's 2nd. last year was a taste. this year is an actual run, and it's an important one regardless of when it ends.
3) there are still missing pieces. i love jake evans, everyone knows this, i love him with all my heart. he's not a 2C on a contender. hutson is playing on his offside bc we don't have enough right shot D. experience is a missing piece too bc i get that marty and the guys refuse to name this as a reason, but youngest team in the league + first actual playoff run for a lot of the guys on the team? yeah I'm not worried. they've gonna have a lot of cap space soon. there are still prospects coming. they're gonna learn from this and they're gonna be better next year
chin up! future's bright
I keep telling my husband: Tampa Bay was a big bowl of fries, Buffalo was a pile of extra squeaky cheese curds, and now with every game we play we get to put some gravy on that. Do we want the Cup? Of COURSE we do. But we've already got some damn fine poutine.
