gosh I've seen SO MANY people saying "be happy we're getting an adaptation at all" today because of how many people disliked the episode!!!! Like we shouldn't be grateful for mediocre work. We were told this would be a faithful adaption so OF COURSE people are gonna be upset when there are SO MANY cuts and scenes being directed wrong. There are plenty of mangas that got fantastic adaptions in their anime, so when we're told it will be faithful that's what the fans expect! It's totally crazy.
Absolutely, 100 percent!! And it makes me sad that manga readers have to justify it. I've been told that "well other shows don't often get a faithful adaptation, so be happy with one that's relatively close" and I'm like??? People waited TWENTY YEARS??? If I'm not wrong, I distinctly remember people saying Fruits Basket was getting the "Brotherhood" treatment, right? And after the mediocre adaptation of 2001, I'm just...
Genuinely, I'm happy we do have one in the first place. But it's one thing to get upset about audience members complaining directly TO or threATening the showrunners and cause unnecessary drama over a show... It's anoTHER thing entirely when audience members nitpick certain things they disliked, and then they get scolded for it. Sure, not everything can be perfect. That's life. But I think we should be allowed to critique the things we like. Idk.
