So I've seen a post of someone talking about a dark huma AU where they betray each other, similar to Davy Jones and Calypso, based on the fanmade song they made for Davy Jones' music box melody. I felt the urge to write something and it came out this. Enjoy. Also I might post it on Ao3 as well.
Will you ever return to me? Dark Huma AU
The sea was calm that day.
The fog wouldn’t let the pirate captain see where his ship was heading to. It was dense, fell like a curtain on top of the ocean. The sky could barely be seen. The highest sails dissolved up there. But that fog wasn’t normal. It was cold, like the bones of a dead man. Like the hands of a witch.
Like the memory of a betrayal.
Captain Harry Hook crossed the deck of his ship until he reached the bow, from where he tried to look to see something. Anything. Whatever it was. A sign they had not crossed the line to Davy Jones’ kingdom yet. His crew fell silent, most of them left him alone in that part of the ship. There was no wind. It did not stir his hair. It did not fill out the sails.
And, yet, up there the pirate flag wouldn’t stop shaking, as if sensing something.
And Hook had a bad feeling.
He narrowed his blue eyes. In the distance, he spotted it.
A rock. In the middle of the ocean.
Now he was sure that fog was certainly not normal.
A sharp melody started playing from somewhere in the sea. The song of a music box. Soft, slow.
Harry pulled out his own music box from his pocket. It was worn out, rusty. But it still played the other part of that torturous song. And as soon as the ocean heard his playing, that first melody shut.
Captain Hook kept looking, dying to see something from afar. Dying to see her.
He knew it was her. It had always been her. For the past five days he had been dreaming about her, seeing her in that natural form of her, one he still hadn’t figured out whether it was demonic or divine. With her, one never knew the difference.
It was only a matter of time that their paths crossed again. It was their fate. They were forever intertwined.
Harry lifted one leg and placed it on the gunwale.
“Show yourself, dear,” he whispered with a harsh voice, his accent rough. “It’s about time”.
The ocean seemed to tremble. The fog opened to a turquoise spot on the sea. Tentacles under the surface that just kept coming closer. Then, a pair of eyes. Eyes that were once his doom. Eyes that were still his doom, as dark as the unnavigable corners of the ocean.
Harry’s heart held back a beat, and he was sure she was the one gripping it for it to react that way. His chest hurt, missing something. Something that would always be hers.
That cruel divinity poked her head out of the water, although she still didn’t show her full face, as the level of the water covered half of it. But it was enough to penetrate his own gaze.
She spoke to him. Just with her merciless, merciless eyes.
“Cruel and cold like winds from the sea.
Will you ever return to me?”
A stupid rhyme. The beginning of their song. The beginning of their end. As a tsunami and a volcano were always bound to collapse.
Harry maintained the cold look. Their eyes kissed.
But then their eyes parted from each other, like two lovers who kiss goodbye. For the last time.
And until they reunite again.
May winds and tides drag them back to each other.
