CASTIEL is not exactly a model angel -- but STILL, he’s not so far removed from heaven’s persistent GRIP as to ignore the misdeeds of the so-called angel in front of him. he sensing he is in the presence of some thing dangerous.

“ what do you want ? ” ---- everyone always wants SOMETHING.

-CASTIEL feels new things in his vessel. for starters, there is an ACHE just below his relentless heart. at first, he ignores the novel sensations. sure, he’s able to quickly enough ascribe them to range of HUMAN emotions he invariably gets better at understanding the longer he spends here on earth. ( here, with the winchesters ). but he has never known one of these emotions ( irrational, pesky, irascible... sometimes warm ) to cause the sharp sting of PHYSICAL PAIN before. once again, he wonders ( in increasing admiration? ) how humans survive their bodies. he doesn’t know WHY, but it’s this persistent QUIET pain that finally compels him to call dean. it has been five weeks since he returned from purgatory. he has spoken to no one.

he almost hangs up while the phone rings. again, his heart pounds. but castiel is still too novice at identifying emotions to tell if it’s out of EXCITEMENT or DREAD.

“ DEAN ? ”
