Today is the 55th anniversary of Fantastic Four #48, AKA the first appearance of the Silver Surfer, my favourite character in fiction. I decided to celebrate this by writing a short article on just why that is.

Storyboards from the unproduced Silver Surfer movie in 1997. Ewan McGregor was apparently eyed to play the titular sky-rider, with the majority of the film focusing on the human side of Norrin Radd due to the cost of VFX in the 90s. Kinda dodged a bullet with that one.

Bit late, but on March 10th 1966, Marvel released Fantastic Four #48, the first issue in the Galactus Trilogy which introduced our boy Silver Surfer.
