Some cool news for today: someone uploaded the uncut English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters to the Internet Archive!! They used to be all online, but got taken down, only 2 were avaliable for a while

For those that don't know: This was an attempt by 4kids to make an uncensored, more accurate dub of the show, released directly on DVD, with most of the same cast of the older dub. They didn't sell very well, so there were only 9 episodes released, but we have these at least (i believe the episode 10 in the link is an fan edit)

tbh if you EVER find yourself in a purportedly trans-friendly space and look around and see zero transfems, it is on you to ask why. and I don't mean "ask yourself why", I mean ask someone out loud, ask an organiser. you need to look for this pattern and you need to proactively speak up when you notice it, because so many people (including trans people) are blind to the absence of transfems the same way people are blind to the underrepresentation of women in general. please make the decision in yourself right now to be the person who is willing to broach the subject and keep broaching it as often as you have to.

what this looks like in practice is usually an organiser/manager/whoever getting very awkward and sometimes reacting to you like you've unfairly put them on the spot. they will often start by blustering (it's a shame, it's a real gap we're aware of, obviously we welcome trans women, it's just the way things have worked out) and then pivot to praising you for pointing it out (it's a really good point, you're totally right to bring it up, thanks for holding us to our values). from then on your job is to ask two questions and keep bringing them up at every future opportunity: why has it worked out this way, and what are you actively doing to change it? if they can't answer those questions to your satisfaction, you gotta make a stink or you gotta bounce. it's no good in there.
