The Ballet of Roundhand - Hanoi & Saigon

Roundhand (hay còn gọi là Copperplate) là  một kiểu chữ Calligraphy sử dụng ngòi nhọn. Roundhand có tầm ảnh hưởng sâu rộng tới nhiều mặt của  trào lưu nghệ thuật Victoria đương thời (thế kỷ XVI - XVII) và tiếp tục được yêu thích đến tận ngày nay.

Roundhand đạt tới thời kỳ đỉnh cao trong khoảng 1720-1800, cùng với cách mạng công nghiệp hoá ở Anh. Roundhand được phổ biến rộng rãi khắp Châu Âu, du nhập và hoà vào sự đa dạng văn hoá nghệ thuật ở từng đất nước, tạo nên nhiều biến thể tuyệt đẹp. Italian Roundhand là một trong số đó, được mệnh danh là “điệu Ballet của chữ viết tay”, mềm mại và tinh tế, uyển chuyển và duyên dáng.

Beside caligraphy and pen making, I have been doing Urushi (Japanese lacquer painting) since 2014. Maki-e is Japanese lacquer sprinkled with gold or silver powder as a decoration. I wrote this in my pen workshop. Back in the days when kids were taught how to write, teachers showed beautiful letters on chalkboard. I feel very lucky that I learned that classic way. Cursive handwriting is always a part of my art. I hope you enjoy it too, pick up a pen and write something. . What we learn? Business Cursive is a handy style for daily handwriting. With a simple fountain pen, and a piece of paper or notebook we can practice cursive. In this workshop we will learn how to write efficiently with arm movement, explore the letterform and spacing.
