She smiled, looking around at the few other people who’d gotten on the ride with them. It was pretty deserted, given that most people were more interested in the big rides, which meant that it would hopefully be a more enjoyable experience for them. Alexis then turned to her sister, frowning a little. “Are you okay?”

Flora nodded. “Yeah, perfect. Just a tickle.” The ride took off. It wasn’t that thrilling for Flora, but the sunshine and being out on a fun day with her sister made it feel amazing. Afterwards, she asked Alexis what she wanted to do next. “We should go to Times Square at some point. You can’t not go.”

“Tell her I’m fine please. I didn’t do anything and she has no reason to make me stay here. Or have my face.”

Flora did gently push away the healer’s hand from Zima’s face, but she didn’t demand that she let the girl leave. “You fainted outside,” she explained. “Do you remember anything?”

“This was made by my sister. I don’t like taking it off. I’ve not…not worn it since she–since I was six. I don’t need a replacement. I already have many scarves. I collect them. Scarves and jewels.” He smiled in return, nodding, “A surprise?”

“Oh. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean.. to be insensitive or anything..” Oops. She nodded. “A bit, yes. Just surprised she returned my feelings at all.”

“Yeah. I’m constantly wearing them.” He tugged at the scarf around his neck, the familiar orange fabric tightening. “Oh, that’s nice. I’m glad you’re happy with her. You deserve it.”

“You need better scarves. Warmer scarves. Something from Europe, maybe. Hmm…” She looked at the scarf, considering where she might get a warmer version of it for the Apollo boy. “Thanks. I am so happy. It’s a bit of a surprise.” Flora’s smile became a little shyer, but happy.

“My neck was constantly cold. I don’t know how I managed when I was younger. Oh. Yes, I’m six foot ten, now. Hopefully I’ll keep growing. Dad is already intimidated enough to try to change his height whenever I’m around. Rhi…Rhiannon? The Nyx girl? She’s nice, I like her.”

“Cold? Really? You know there’s such things as scarves right? Six ten? Oh my gosh… That’s ridiculous.” Flora lifted herself onto her tippy toes and then jumped. Even when she jumped, however, she just reached his height. “I feel tiny. Yeah, Rhiannon. She’s, uh… She’s… my girlfriend.”

“Yeah, I have to tie it up and clip it back, and I have to keep tucking it behind my ears too. It’s really annoying, but there’s no way I’m cutting my hair. I did it once and. Never again. I’m probably going to keep growing it. Thanks for the pins, too.”

“What happened when you cut it? I mean, it looks good like it is now though. All good, don’t worry. They’re not anything special. Did you get taller by the way? That or I’m getting shorter, I swear. And I thought Rhi made me feel small.”

“Don’t mention it. I always carry some just in case. Mm, I see that. That lengths always annoying because bits will fall out just when you don’t need them to. I used to have hair about that length, but I preferred it to be longer. Stays up better too.”

Her eyes lightened up at the other girl’s French, glad to continue speaking in her native tongue. “Mon père. Je ne l'ai pas parlé avec lui depuis que je suis ici.” She smiled gratefully. “Merci.”

“Oui je vais bien. C’est bien ici, mais tu me manques. Je promets, oui —” Fleur looked up, eyes widening at the person in the doorway. “Je te rappelle.” After hanging up the phone, she glanced up innocently, a small frown on her lips. “Don’t — don’t tell Chiron.”

Flora just smiled. “Qui était-il?” she asked. “Rassurez-vous, je ne le fais pas.”

She smiled. “It’s nice to feel enjoyment. I do not enjoy most things about life at camp; I like the drawing places, but most of it I do not like.” If her hatred of all things dirty, or anything associated with any type of germs, wasn’t a hint, since she’d left the hospital, Alexis’ OCD had gotten considerably worse. “Fear isn’t nice.”

Flora gave Alexis a sad smile. “I know. But it’s okay, we’re going to have some fun today.” Flora shook her head. “No, it’s not. But you don’t need to be afraid. I won’t let anything happen to you.” Flora smiled. Just as the ride started, she felt an itch in the back of her throat. She turned away from Alexis and coughed slightly.
