My chosen name is Iridessa Littlehorn, only known daughter of the infamous Leon Abbot, whose given name was N’zall. I’m a Hybrasian demon forging a life in Haven City as the LEP’s inaugural Director of the newly created Cultural Outreach and Restoration Division.
The first thing people usually ask me is why I would choose a surname that seems to insult me. The second thing they usually ask is “newly directed what, now?”
If you, too, are wondering these things, then tap that Follow button. I’ll explain everything… 🪢
Demon-kind has been out of touch with its roots and the interconnectedness of The People for a long time. As I study and learn more about our evolutionary lineages, I want to share this very simplified overview of how the Eight Families came to be.
"Bród represents a healthier and more resilient future for demon kind,"
says Dr. Jerbal Argon, of the J. Argon Institute, pictured here arm in arm with LEP Cultural Outreach & Restoration (CORD) Director, Iridessa Littlehorn.

Demon Genetic Database to Go Live

On Aug. 30, Littlehorn plans to launch Bród, an online genealogical database for demons to connect with their biological relatives.
For the last several centuries, demons were led by the infamous Leon Abbot to believe it is unnatural for demons to maintain close familial relationships. Therefore, no Hybrasian can be sure who their relatives are.
"You can imagine the kind of trouble this can cause for such a small population," says Littlehorn. "Before Limbo, we lived in multigenerational homes and made a point of community care."
Rumors have circulated that the Fairy Council will force demons to register their DNA with Bród. Gnommish Gnews has discovered no evidence to validate such claims.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that I'm an independent contractor," says Independent Consultant, Foaly, owner and sole employee of Horse Sense Tech Consulting, and Lead Developer of Bród. "I don't work for the LEP. Ergo, I'm not beholden to the Council, either."
Littlehorn assures us that there is no such requirement, nor will there ever be. In fact, participation in Bród will be completely optional and, for those who do submit DNA samples, include access to crucial personal health information, highly customizable privacy settings, and the ability to rescind their sample at any time.
CORD is a Council-funded division of the LEP. Just over a decade ago, a Council member, Briar Cudgeon, was complicit in the very nearly successful hostile takeover of Haven City in collaboration with the notorious Opal Koboi, our would-be tyrant pixie overlord.
"Given recent history in the Lower Elements, it's perfectly understandable why some people still harbor distrust toward the Council," says Littlehorn, rolling up her sleeve as Argon pulls up a small medical cart. "So, as a gesture of good faith, allow me to be Bród's first genetic contributor."
The Lower Elements Police (LEP) has received funding from the Fairy Council to form the Cultural Outreach & Restoration Division (CORD).
As demons continue integrating into modern society, certain challenges become apparent. Unlike other Fairy families, we do not possess magick.
Without the Gift of Tongues, we have had to adapt to speaking and reading the Gnommish language. Most publications are not yet available in our native High Demonic, not to mention signage and packaging around the Lower Elements. With no ability to cast healing spells, the medical community needs to be educated on demon physiology in order to provide appropriate treatment. And since we cannot use the Mesmer or shield, demons traveling aboveground are at an increased risk of harm from humans.
CORD seeks to address all this and more. As the Director of this new division, I have several initiatives in development that will preserve demon language, culture, and traditions while helping Hybrasians build sustainable communities capable of evolving over time.
🪢CORD Initiatives
Create a demon genealogical database
Preserve High Demonic Language and Etymology
Offer Gnommish Language Courses for Hybrasians
Collaborate with Lower Elements Medical Facilities
Offer Travel Safety Courses, Tools, and Strategies for Nonmagick Beings
Preserve Demon Culture and Traditions
Community Outreach
I’ll be delving deeper into each of these initiatives in the coming days and weeks. I hope you’ll join me on the journey from #HybrasToHaven.
