Downloading tumblr has made me more fucked up as a person but my aesthetic vision has definitely been elevated so it’s okay
X Japan did not invent visual 系. They cannot. That's not how the world works.
Music cannot be invented. Culture cannot be invented. They form when people start taking different inspiration, different genres, and different values or concepts, and slowly merging them together with new elements, until a new music genre develops. No ape magically turned into a human overnight. It's the same for visual kei. It cannot be created, the same way Karl Marx did not invent communism and Isaac Newton did not invent gravity. Visual kei cannot be invented. If we lived in the nineteenth century, when only classical music existed, nobody could have just came up with heavy metal. They can't. Because music is evolutionary, it develops into different genres, genres don't just get "invented".
And people love to say that X Japan made up the term "visual kei" but they did not. SHOXX magazine, founded by Seiichi Hoshiko (the visual kei oyaji), coined the term from X Japan's "Psychedelic Violence Crime Of Visual Shock". So even this they didn't do.
So stop acting like a cult and stop claiming that everything is X Japan's creation and contribution. They were important to the visual kei scene and subculture, but they are not the sole founders and they certainly did not and cannot invent it.
