SHE WAS NOTHING BUT L O V E. HER HEART POURED MEDICINE ONTO BATTLE WOUNDS, EVERYTHING ABOUT HER WAS A GOODNESS, HER SMILE, HER STEP, HER EYES. THROUGH ALL THE BLOOD & THE BITTERNESS, PAIN & HEARTACHE SHE REMAINED AN UNBROKEN FLOWER, A PEDESTAL OF INNOCENCE & BENEVOLENCE. SHE WAS NOTHING BUT LOVE. SHE WAS NOTHING BUT LOVE.
âdonât worry,â hui slid a pack of wipes he had on him (heâs learned to carry them ever since his son came into the world; they were life savers) with a tight smile. âdrunk people puke is just as bad as baby puke. i would know. i get puked on a lotâ it sounds weird i know.â
Her frown quickly disappears, replaced by a shy smile. âYouâre a lifesaver.â Hyera quickly takes a wipe and begins furiously trying to remove the gruesome stain, processing his words at the same time. âYour more prepared than I am, and Iâm supposed to be a paramedic...I should be used to my clothes getting ruined by now.â She shakes her head, sighing in relief as the stain slowly disappears. âItâs not weird, besides, babies are so cute that doesnât matter when they puke ---itâs worth it to see them laugh after.âÂ
Yes, Joon could smell that something terribly wrong but to be honest, thatâs not why he was looking at her. He noticed she was always drinking the same chocolate milk he was, and he wasnât about to let someone who enjoyed the nectar from the gods go unnoticed. âAh, Iâm so sorry, I didnât mean to come off as rude.â He bows slightly before pointing at the milk in her hands, âActually I just noticed we were drinking the same thing and thought it was funny. I have an unhealthy obsession with this stuff. But if you want, maybe we can go buy you a new shirt real quick so you can change out of that one?â Â
His comment suprises her as Hyera was expecting a snarky remark. Instead, she lets out a small smile and turns to face him. âItâs okay, Iâve been drinking this stuff since..well forever --I think this chocolate milk makes me feel like, home, i guess.â She wasnât sure how it started, but now everytime Hyera felt upset she would drink her chocolate milk and instantly feel better, just like magic. âUh...I mean, that would be really nice --- you donât have too of course...but that would be really helpful.â She shifts off her seat, relief washing over her. âIâm Hyera by the way -- I shouldâve said that first. Itâs nice to meet you.âÂ
Hello all! Iâve been super busy with job interviews/college work but Iâve got some free time now ^.^ so please like this if youâd like a smol starter <3
AN EYEBROW FURROWED as an amused smile made an appearance as teddy attempted to put a story together in his head. â well, i think it was VERY kind of you to try to help someone. â he shook his head at her suggestion, â you donât have to go anywhere. but i wouldnât mind walking you down to the nearest store and buying you a new sweater. i imagine itâs not comfortable to go out like that.â sure, seongkyun didnât have much given heâd only been here a few days, and the job at the diner wasnât going to make him a millionaire anytime soon, but he definitely had enough cash to be able to help her out.
A small smile appears on her face as she pushes away the HINT of concern. âItâs my job regardless.â She mutters, knowing fully well that kindness is what did pay the bills in her case. For a moment she considers his offer, a tinge of embarrassment still on her cheeks. âYou donât have to pay for anything...but..if you donât mind coming, that would be nice.â She shifts off her seat and fiddles with her sleeves. âAs long as you donât...donât kidnap me or something, because Iâll have you know Iâm friends with half of the police force here...so....you know...just donât.â
Â
âHow do you manage to get through crowds?â Gwangmin hummed in question with an an arched brow. She appeared to be very endearing to him for some reason probably because she was different from most people he met in this town. âIt usually starts that wayâŠa drunk guy.â He nodded in understanding. Some of the best stories he ever heard were involving the drunk. Gwangmin slipped a cigarette behind his ear before he pocketed the rest in the pocket of his jacket. âThat sounds like the next album from an emo band, Iâll be sure to listen. And arenât I more likely to get cancer than have my lung collapse? Why would that even happen?â
âI just...you know...ask people to move.â The conversation is rather odd to Hyera and she finds herself questioning what the other thinks of her. Does she seem too naive or too stupid? However she snaps out of her thoughts at his next question, grimacing at the sight of the cigarette by his ear. âIâm being serious.â Hyera shakes her head. âLook, lung collapses are high risk to smokers because itâs easy for a chest cavity to form if you have weak and damaged lungs ---I would know, i treated someone just like you last week.â Her moral crusade is evident in her eyes as she continues. âYou donât know when things can go wrong for you, why take the risk? Why get drunk and nearly choke or even take drugs...nothing good can come from doing that.âÂ
the SMELL is what reached jiminâs nose first, overpowering her nice smelling ramen instantly. she looked up to find the means behind it to find a girl sitting a few meters away wearing a jumper that contained a huge, really nasty stain. she must of lost herself in her mind as her thoughts were quickly cut off by the other girl. âo-oh, iâm so s-sorry!â she quickly got out, avoiding her gaze as she stared down at her ramen. after a few moments of being quiet, jimin shook her head, âyou d-donât need toâŠum, this might be w-weird to suggest, but would you like my jacket? soâŠso you donât have to w-wear the jumper and i can wash it for you.â
Her initial COLDNESS is replaced by a soft smile, embarrassment slowly ebbing away from her features as she finishes her chocolate milk. Perhaps Hyera has the same generosity and instantly feels connected to the other but she gently nods her head. âYou donât have too really....âShe pauses for a moment knowing fully well the alternative is to walk home and suffer more. âThat is...uh if your place isnât too far...I donât want to bother you.âÂ
He hated morning shifts at the quaint little diner. He had coworkers who begged to get early shifts in order to benefit from the early leaving and to avoid the mess that the night usually brought, with too many people and a few extra hours after for cleaning duty. Junhyung is not an early bird, so waking up at 6am kills his spirit every time he needs to do it and half the times, he doesnât even remember getting to work so he might as well walk with his eyes closed for all itâs worth.Â
Luckily, the kitchen staff is complete once more and so, his trials in there have ended and although he is a gifted dish washer, he is more than happy to be outside, behind the counter, giving out smiles and way too loud greetings. He sees Mrs. Kim who never fails to enter the shop at 8am sharp with her order on the tip of her tongue. She repeats it at least three times to make sure Junhyung doesnât forget anything and the time she takes doing so is enough for him to finish her order and place it in front of her. Does it have an extra shot? âIt doesâ he says, lying through his teeth because the seventy-something-year-old doesnât need that much caffeine in her veins. He thinks she secretly knows heâs lying and she smiles nonetheless.
The queue forms quickly and he is not the only one tending to customers, but he is somewhat distracted when the next order gets to him. He fills the cup, adds everything else that adds to the sugar high this person is bound to get this early in the morning and places an extra packet of sugar next to it. âand here you go, a little free ââ he starts before he swallows his own voice for a second ââŠÂ bieâ
Why arenât there any holes available for him to hide in? Why did he get out of the kitchen in the first place, why didnât he change his shift today?
Someone slides another order to him and açthough his hands move on its own, his eyes are on the girl he just smiled at two seconds before. She looks exactly the same as he remembers with an added maturity and beauty that he may or may not have seen coming. He blinks and sheâs out there trying to drench herself in piping hot coffee so he slides the cup he just finished to a waiting customer and moves away from the counter swiftly after, grabbing a few paper towels in order to go come to her rescue.Â
Junhyung doesnât give a proper answer to her affirmation. Instead, he crouches as well, picks up the cup and immediately wipes the coffee from her shoes before soaking up the paper towels with the remaining liquid on the floor. âDon't worry about this. Did you get hurt? Did you burn yourself?â
With him in front of her all the memories seem to come pouring back like a flood. She canât hold back the intruding thoughts --it seems all to clear to her: she remembers needles and odd stains, the smell of rotten things and decay. Hyera used to always think that she was the cause of this smell, that she had a disease she couldnât wash off, that something in her was the cause of her MISFORTUNE. But HE was also in her past, before it all.Â
She remembers before things went wrong, when he drew doodles on her textbooks and when she would ask him to teach her about LIFE. Sandwiches were always halved between them & somehow around him, things felt JUST RIGHT. She felt safe, safer than she ever had at home.
                     But things were different now.
She has so many words to say but all Hyera can think about is tapping at his window frantically, of leaving notes in his empty desk chair ---what explanation could it be? Part of her didnât want to find out.Â
Usually, she was the one treating shock. Telling the other to stay calm, but her mind is blank as her eyes begin to water. And Hyera can only stutter âN-No..no..I..â She stands up taking some tissue in her shaky hands, feet moving back automatically. Her brain is telling her not to overreact, but Hyera canât help it, she hasnât felt pain like this in a long time, hasnât felt her heart flutter too. Pull yourself together. âSorry I...I d-didnât mean to drop that.âÂ
Feet shuffle gently towards the door, the only sound in the apartment is her yawn as she unlocks the door and turns on a nearby light, eyes squinting from the brightness. Every time she hears the doorbell late at night Hyeraâs heart drops & this time was no different. She stares at the mess of a girl in front of her, sighs and lets Yuri in, walking towards the cupboards and removing the first aid kit from the shelf. âSo...what happened?âÂ

IT WAS TRUE, he couldnât help but wonder
what the hell was going on with herâŠ.situation of
a jumper. he definitely didnât mean to STARE, though.
teddy shook his head, â sorry. didnât mean to look for
so long. but its fine, really.â but it did smell awful.Â
â can i ask what happened ? â
âI tried to be a good person, thatâs what happened,â She sighs in disappointment, frustrated by her own constant need to be a GOOD person. âI can um...I can go if itâs bothering you.â Hyera shifts in her seat, cheeks bright red and head down to hide her EMBARRASSMENT.
âI CANâT EXACTLY help it, itâs like a train wreck.â gwangmin shrugged as she spoke to him. it wasnât like it hadnât ever happened to him before, though he used to be the one throwing up on his friends not the other way around. thankfully that was years ago. âi was hoping to stare long enough that you would just angrily explain what happened so i would fuck off.â he nodded as he went up to the counter to buy cigarettes. âi would offer you one to make you feel better but you donât look old enough. all i can tell you is thereâs worse things that could happen.â
âWell I donât like shouting at people.â She pauses, a wave of embarrassment washing over her as she takes a large sip of her drink. Her eyebrows crease at his next comments and Hyera takes a moment to stare at him. âSome drunk guy started choking and...i guess I ended up here.â She shifts in her seat, hesitating for a moment -- he seemed rather intimidating (but then again, Hyera found EVERYONE to be that way.) Really, she wished sheâd gone home but her comfort food was calling to her. âYou know, you shouldnât smoke, maybe tomorrow Iâll be treating you for a collapsed lung.âÂ
This was the first time sheâd entered the coffee shop wide awake ---the other times sheâd been in uniform and a flustered, tired mess. Unrecognisable to the eye, her clean clothes and fresh face were particularly different and Hyera seemed suddenly more aware of the world around her. Approaching the counter, she orders her usual (coffee with a truckload of sugar.)Â
But when she takes her coffee and looks up, her heart stops and her hands drop. Hot coffee spills on her shoes as she stares in SHOCK at the person in front of her. She crouches quickly to avoid a scene, hands stupidly touching the hot cup in an effort to clean up her own mess.Â
Hyera had MISSED him, missed him like one misses spring after an endless winter, he was part of her soft dreams and good memories. Endless laughter between two kids, sheâd trusted him, sheâd confided in him. But the first emotion she feels after shock, is anger. Anger that heâd left when she needed him most, anger that heâd made her pain a lot greater than it already was ---there was no apology, just silence and Hyera had learnt to bottle her sadness. Until now.
She wonders if heâd known it was her all this time, all those times she ran in just before the store closed, or when she was covered in dirt head to toe. Itâs only now Hyera realises how blind she had been towards him, only recognising his features now, his hands, his voice, his EYES.Â
âI guess I found your secret hideaway.â
A HARSH BRIGHT LIGHT fills the convenience store & Hyera attempts to sip her chocolate milk in peace. Instead, after a few moments, she finds herself mumbling to the person sitting a few seats away, knowing fully well that their eyes are boring into her stained (and rather smelly) jumper. âI know it smells bad, but you donât have to stare.â She sighs in exasperation ---it wasnât HER fault some drunk idiot decided to throw up on her, no, her mistake was helping the poor guy in the first place. âI canât move further away from you anyway.â
game nights were her favourites, once every fortnight sheâd find herself in the lowkey bar, glass of her usual tia maria and coke on her side. pen in her hand and her paper in front of her, a determined look always tattooed onto her face. the bar was a full house that night, word getting around about the classic, popular game night. not many people knew kimi spent her friday nights hidden away at a bar, and she planned to keep it that way. it wasnât that she was embarrassed about it, far from it. it was just that she wanted a place that nobody knew she would visit. sitting on a free stool at the bar, she let herself way in her seat, humming the tune of the song that was currently playing until the noticed movement in the corner of her eyes. head turning slightly, she eyed the person for a few moments before breaking the silence. âwhat are you doing here?â
She was TRYING to be social, deciding that sleeping inbetween shifts simply wasnât good enough anymore and sheâd got tired of talking to the neighbours cat. Thus, she was left with no choice but to venture into the REAL world. Awkwardely she enters the bar, attempting to find someone who seems reasonably nice to break the first point of contact. Instead, like a deer caught in the headlights --someone has already seen her instead. Her brain frazzles and Hyera begins to talk too quickly for her own good. âI know youâre probably wondering why youâve never seen me here before...actually I donât really know why Iâm here but I just wanted to check this place out and---â She pauses for breath. âyou know...i heard the game nights were cool...is it...is it ok if I sit there?â She motions towards the stool beside the other and quickly smiles. âI mean...itâs ok if itâs taken or something.â
âHmmâŠ.I dunno. Donât you think these are a little too short?â He had asked his friend to come along with him to shop for some new clothes. Most of his clothes were somehow ruined since he wore them to work so he needed something nicer to actually wear out.Â
Hyera pauses, eyes hovering over the outfit in a mixture of apprehension and concern, but she tries her best to hide it ---a small smile appearing on her face. âNo, you look amazing...â She hesitates. âBut..arenât you suffocating right now? They look so...tight.â
*crashes through the window Hello everyone!! Iâm Cupcake, 19, she/her and this is my v shy (but lovable) kid Jun Hyera, sheâs 21 years old and a paramedic!!Â
Like this and Iâll come into your messages to plot!
Tw: neglect, drugs,Â
Her life had been pretty normal before, having lived in Busan almost all her life and up until the age of 13, things were pretty good
Hyeraâs parents were simple office workers, but when the company they both worked for closed down things got bad,
after months of trying to find jobs but failing, desperation meant they turned to borrowing money
but in doing so they both fell into the wrong crowd and drugs became their only form of happiness
Hyera witnessed this downfall but tried her best to keep it together, she would clean the house, pay back debt with valuables and try working odd jobs.Â
finally when she was 15, she couldnât take it and reported herself to social services on the basis of neglect. Her parents only spoke to her to gain more money from her and she couldnât really take it anymore, especially considering the threats her family received from thugs and gangs.Â
After this Hyera was placed with a lovely foster home while she caught up with her schooling, eventually graduating with good grades.
But the city haunted her and she felt burdened by the memory of her parents, so she moved to Seoul and completed her paramedic training course.
And so her first placement was in this small town, and while sheâs been here for a few months, Hyera still finds herself lonely.Â
Personality: Soft, gentle and caring - sheâs the type of person that would do anything for anyone, risk anything for anyone. Sheâs super shy outside of work, purely because sheâs often in deep thought but while working sheâll often be very loud and communicative. (Hyera forced herself to be that way, especially under pressure.)Â
But her fatal flaw is her inability to move on from her past. She ran from Busan because of her parents and from Seoul too, Hyera just wants to hide away forever.Â
Plots I want:
- Friends that she eats dinner with and goes shopping with, just casual friends she can have fun with
- Someone who teases her constantly and brings out her shyness
- An enemy ?? someone who makes her question her own values.Â
- romance wise - sheâs running away from getting close and someone has to break that down.Â
- work friends at the hospital/fire/police depts!!
- library buddies (she studies random stuff on weekends)
- best friend, first person who introduced her to the city.
