some gifts for peeps on ffxiv who gave me good pink shiny things for my cat boy.

The first thing that Sui noticed upon being beckoned to sit in the personal studium of her mentor was the waft of fogweed smoke, still warm ash neatly sitting in the disposal drawer of the ornate wooden case by the alchemy stove. It was a slightly sweet smell to her sensitive nose, more used to the distilled oil of it that Dekoko prescribed her with its headier bouquet, but not unpleasant. The second thing was the enormous structure that stood tall from floor to ceiling in the middle of the room, glowing brightly enough that even without the candles and lanterns it could’ve lit the room. 

From the crystalline shards there sprouted new shoots of some kind of plant -- a strong bright green and decidedly healthy looking thing despite the lack of actual soil anywhere in sight. 

“Ever since the battle of Silvertear I’ve held up hope that I could maybe, just maybe, try restore some more life to Mor Dhona,” Dekoko remarked upon realising what Sui was looking at, her voice low and warm. “Watching the aether drain from my home and the soil turn to crystal dust all those years ago... I thought that there was no hope in such an endeavour.”

But. 

The word lingered unspoken. Sui turned her gaze to Dekoko, tiredly smiling as her mentor fussed over the placement of the miqo’te’s fresh bandages while tutting under her breath about how she should still be in bed. “How many years has it taken to sprout?” 

Dekoko smirked. 

“Long enough that I have multiple grandchildren.”
